Whilst it is true that Burford needs to tighten up its Corporate governance, and how it books the revenue from cases, this attack has been way overdone. The Company should demonstrate to the market it has a concrete plan to address some of the legitimate claims by MW. Maybe appoint Carson Block as a Non-Exec! Or maybe not......

The fact MW claim they had no mechanism to perform spoofing and layering is utter BS. They simply could have paid someone else to do it for them, any trader in their circle of friends could have done it without too much effort. Their counter-rebuttal is not credible in this regard and they know it. Desperation on their part because they know they have dug themselves a hole with this.

Not sure how many he sold last year but why not sell on high and buy at a very low price after a bear raid? Isn't that sensible....

This is different, he and his senior managers were lying to Auditors and releasing false RNS's to the market re; contract wins such as the £500m RAC deal that never was. He lied and his Company lied. There has been no such accusations here.

I've never seen a Company carry out an investigation and provide such a detailed review of market manipulation in their stock before - Burford are clearly putting resource into this know exactly what they are doing here.

In cahoots with MW Gothan release a report so that when legal action does happen, MW can claim they were not alone in their opinion of Burford Capital. It won't wash of course, but they are hopeful. In the meantime there doesn't appear to be much to stop a gradual recovery next week given the Broker & Analysts' views on the Company and the possible Company Buybacks.

Where I do agree with them is on this point in particular.

5. BUR should view the recent public scrutiny as an opportunity to improve its disclosures and governance.

If Burford do that they could end up taking advantage of last weeks attack.
