Electric conveyors are expensive to install and don't really work up inclines such as at Sukari and extremely difficult to place in a pit and there is also the need for double handling. Do work well over quite long distances on the flat or slight inclines.

Just a little more by way of an explanation relating to pit being tighter. This means haul roads become longer as they get deeper, whether they are steeper I can't comment on as I haven't been to site in recent times, but this often happens and cornering due to tighter bends can/does occur.
What is all important to production is cycle times and the extra distance the trucks have to travel too and from pit/plant has a significant impact on how many cycles are achieved per hour , compounded by the additional climb at low speeds when exiting the pit fully loaded. The number of cycles or truck loads are also impacted by how many have to go to waste and therefore not available to carry ore.
For those of you who understand muck shifting sorry for stating the obvious but for those of you who don't have any experience in such operations I hope this helps.

philandlynne yes they can do it but equipment is two years older, pit is very much tighter, strip ratio is higher and to achieve the ounces they need to move far more ore than they have in recent quarters, and far less waste unless the ore grade is higher and not negated by the ore to waste calculations.
Like you I am optimistic that they are on track and can do it.

Rebess Yes they need over 50,000 oz a month to get close and they had the opportunity yesterday to answer this as the question was raised. Jeremy reiterated that October is the best month of 2019 and they are on track. As I see it there is still 8 days (25%) of the month to go so maybe just maybe they are into over 1 g/tonne and at long last they do have some control of the dilution issues.

I have listened to the transcript of the presentation and phone in and Pardey wasn't involved.
I liked what I heard from Jeremy Langford who sounded as though he was being patched in from site. He sounds hands on and although he has only been with Cey since April extremely knowledgeable and positive, no doubt in my mind that he is driving change and structure.
Time will tell but must admit to feeling more confident than after previous phone ins over the last 18 months.

Rebess not sure I understand what is going on as figures are OK but certainly not good. I am however not knocking the 5% improvement in the SP.
I couldn't get in on the call in so will have to listen to the transcript a little later maybe there was something said that prompted the enthusiasm.

Rebess I only wish I could understand the logic because I just don't get it, OK if it is a profit warning I suppose it is the thing to do BUT will the reduced ounces really mean a drop in profit given the increase in GP?
Also why say regardless of the shortfall they will still make lower estimate of annual forecast so not a profit warning as such.
I am sorry I can only put it down to naivety and they just don't learn.

Rebess I don't disagree with your numbers and sentiments and tomorrow we will see what they have achieved in the 3rd Quarter and importantly what grades they achieved in September or the latter part of the quarter, together with the ratio of waste to ore.
This should give us some idea if there is any chance of getting close to the low end of the annual forecast.
Can I see it not sure but if they can come close to 4th Quarter 2018 but with 1 g+ per tonne or 25% (Hapi supposedly upwards of 2g?) better grades then there is an outside chance.

What I also hope tomorrow is a positive result from the PEA for Doropo Cote d'Ivoire as this should have been completed by 15th October. This study has input from some really experienced people/entities importantly although not limited to Lycopodium who will be making recommendations on plant(s) and hopefully siting(s) as Doropo covers quite a large area.
I also see input from a couple of mining contractors and also Ausdrill all of whom have considerable experience in West Africa.
Given the combination of both indicated and inferred resource of approx 3 million ounces this could be the saving of the SP if there is an announcement of a new mine with a go date estimate.
Am I clutching at straws maybe?

goldgnome I am not sure why we worry so much about the board because when we look at other Mining Companies the Gucci Directors have very little influence over production in the mines under their control.
I feel the guys on the ground are the ones that make the difference, problem with Centamin is that the current people who can maybe influence the production are relatively new and are cleaning up after some errors.
OK the board need to take the wrap but this doesn't sort out the issues.
Rebess like you I am not overly optimistic about what we are going to hear tomorrow as the production shortfall doesn't enable them to take full advantage of the GP, but at the same time it will mean I would hope there is still a good profit.
What worries me more is how are they going to get through what seems to be one step forward and a couple backwards and put achievable plans together to ensure the ounces are delivered to get to the very least the low end of the annual forecast.
They have the machines but can they be put to the best use given the strip ratio, space restrictions, underground voids etc.

Tibbs yes this hedge story is exactly what I was talking about and I remember it so well.
I don't think we were necessarily closed when I originally asked the questions and quite right it would have been nice to at the very least be acknowledged.

Tibbs I don't take too much notice of gold price predictions because over the years very seldom if ever been right. I remember sitting having a great meeting with Sam Jonah (Google him an extremely interesting man) and at the time the gold price was on it's knees with twits like Gordon Brown flogging off gold.
He said everyone was not only against Gold but also Africa so a large African Gold Mine had no chance, but glad they were well placed with their hedge.
Very shortly after and the gold price took off and because they were hedged so far out they really caught a cold with volumes being called in and no way they could meet the demand so they had to buy gold at a higher price than the hedge to meet their contracts.
Long story short even someone like Sam and his advisers couldn't predict the price.
I addressed my questions to Centamin IR and can only think that they are unable to answer because could be seen as insider knowledge, or maybe they might just be ignoring me.
Who knows might prompt an inclusion on the 23rd.

Rebess unfortunately I tend to agree as I am worried that the market will once again get out because of the already advised drop in production so once again a double hit.
I am also somewhat disappointed that I am not getting a response to questions I have asked regarding production and access.
The only saving grace is they will I am sure make a profit because of the gold price and I see no reason why there can't be a positive regarding asset improvements and a forecast for a new mine opening in West Africa.
There will also need to be a meaningful explanation as to how they hope to achieve the revised annual figure above 490,000 ounces.

Tibbs not BF rather Cote d'Ivoire (Doropo and ABC) and another question that needs answers what has happened to Bate, BF?
Cleopatra will I hope given grades to date be a profitable addition but I agree they do need to get on with it BUT with a well planned strategy and with no negative impacts to the long term, with strong buy in from the new operational teams.

Also CEO is an issue and we do need someone of substance with previous known track record but this isn't where the production comes from it is the operational teams that make the difference providing they are given the tools and I don't envy the new team who have arrived when there are issues that are not of their making.
I would also love to see a 3D model to fully understand the impact of the early underground workings on the current pit operations, I will have to look through early presentations to see if there is anything that helps.

Gnome I agree but I don't think the 23rd October financials are going to set the world on fire. I think they are having problems in the pit not just lower than expected grades but also the higher strip ratio and they are also admitting to issues with voids as they reach early underground workings and operating with trucks running at approx 240 metric tonnes they don't want to hit a void.
What I am hoping for is high selling prices and some positive news regarding increased assets with maybe a mining start date estimate for Doropo. Definitely need some positives otherwise the SP will take another hit.

Tibbs B of D most definitely need to take responsibilities for decisions but sure like me you have seen internal promotions of people that don't work, it happens best geo or engineer don't always make the best boss/manager, primarily because other responsibilities come with promotion and this takes up time and deflects from their expertise.
Not defending anyone because I am as disappointed with the goings on as the next investor and hope that the right leader is out there to take on the role of CEO.
I don't necessarily think EMRA and Drillers has anything to do with what Cey are doing or not doing and suggest albeit I don't have any factual information, they are discussing "Exploration" for the future and maybe some past results outside of cey's concession area. These guys have been involved in the region for some time and I am sure will have some very useful data.

Pistachio Open Pit agreed this is why I can't understand reference to "High Grading" what high grades? However volumes have been good up until strip ratio compared with grades and reduction of volumes have created production short falls and increased costs.
Underground grades however look good but Why so long getting into regular underground production that adds the value and boosts production?
Also not just the grades also profit share, unstable market conditions, single operation and to a lesser extent the court case.
