Clearly these numbers and any forecasts for 2024 to 2026 will have to be revised sharply upwards after today’s announcement.

Contributing in part to the huge share price rally is the fact Petrofac is one of the most-shorted stocks in the UK market, with roughly 4.7% of its equity capital out on loan according to the shorttracker website.

i guess they shorter nobbies have till the next trading update and end of your results to make their move. My guess is the trading update will be very postive. If it was dodgy or some dodgy unstable financials then Hitachi would not have partnered up with PFC so my guess is it will all be good. Perhaps the new CEO will inform us how much money they will expect from this deal. At which point this might move much higher but this is my personal opinion so don't bet the wife on it hahhaha

Another reason shorts may purchase more stocks is to hedge their positions. Short sellers may buy additional stocks in order to balance their portfolio and reduce their overall risk exposure.

Anyway the shorts were much more before the 70% sonic boom lol so they got that wrong. Just because the morons have shorts doesn't mean they will be right. As long as other keep buying soon as the stock drops they will lose out.

Yes they increased their shorts by such a small amount like 522k or something. I think they increase their position to freak weak holders out so they start sell since they know we are watching them

Good points Fortissimo. Nice to see PFC up 4% hope it holds and goes up to 80p today. The trades are coming in very slow but the vol. is already almost 1 mill. just looking on level 2 and weird how the trades coming in every 5 mins rather than quicker.

the shorts are done. It's likely that they have had margin calls because of the 70% rise. We should see futher falls. 15% drop is also people taking profit. I am sure after the 6th when ISA come online this should move up.
