I know and understand your view that SRX will be taken out by either Pala or a third party. The alternative is that SRX is a strong recovery stock with a great future. Unlike zinc, lead and nickle etc it is not easy to find spot or forward prices for rutile.

Today's RNS shows voting rights at 522,231,508 shares issued. Pala were at 56.12% as at 22.04.15. Accordingly to cross 57% Pala would need to acquire another 4.6 million. My personal feeling is that when stock comes on offer Pala may be picking some loose stock up which may be why the price is not falling on recent sells. I could be wrong. Gibraltar 1 is right in that Pala may be lining up a bid to take over the company or have a third party in mind who will take Pala out and bid for the company. Either way the ultimate decision and amount of a take out rests with the institutional investors. With a third party (suspected to be Chinese) showing interest in SRX in November 2013 and the then price going to 70 pence plus and with a high over the past few years of 80 pence, I agree with Gibraltar 1 that the institutions are unlikely to accept less than £1 a share. I have been picking a few shares up as and when for what it is worth.

Interesting appointment which I doubt was made without the knowledge of Pala since Pala has had a large involvement in the turnaround of Sierra Rutile. But does such an appointment run in line with a takeover by Pala itself. Perhaps both an operational move plus defensive move from an unwelcome bidder taking advantage of the low price? Flannel - fudges the main issue which is: is there domination of the board by Sawyer on behalf of Greenstone with Sawyer on so many committees. Why did the aggressive drilling and increase in resource stated in the 20 January RNS not proceed? Why if at 30 minutes of the conference call recording was there an unqualified statement that QCA was being adopted does the corporate governance page on the NRR website state that the board will -using colloquial terms - follow such rules that they want to use the risk being that they need not follow the rules? Have you read the QCA guidelines and do you understand them? Some think that NRR has a quality asset .

tidd - I do disagree about online business. What I am talking about is where a store has surplus space not necessary for retail of SBRY own goods be they food or say clothes. The surplus spce then becomes dead space and even with dead space the online business can do zero to utilise that dead space, Therefore create shells of shops to take up that space - lateral thinking. Then sublet the space to non competing businesses. Have you ever been in a Casino store in France? Had you, you might understand what I am talking about. The added bonus is cross collateral shopping, Need to go to a higher class ladies clothes shop within the precinct, why not do your supermarket shopping at the same time etc. The main point though is getting rental income from surplus space. Just as a JV with Land Securities for other space to be built on to create homes.

Pugsy - agreed. I think that this is now a recovery stock. We will see tomorrow but the key is what is the market share, is footfall staying the same or better, what are the margins and what are they doing about surplus store space e.g. the deal with Land Securities and the rental out of shop units within the larger shops to take up surplus space and bring in income for the space.

as far as I can see Investec brokers have srx rated at a price target of 29 pence. RBS at 50 pence and VSA at 68 pence.
