Well, who do we think is buying?

This was an independent review of the accounts last year, by Ernst & Young.

Close to £700m of institutional buys this month, £145m this week. No one thinks it’s fraud dogger. Independent review of audited accounts last year gave it the all clear. This next one will.

I work in financial services. My gut instincts tell me that I have bought a considerable amount of a ftse100 company, a world leader in a future proof industry at a discount of 50% from its December value, and a third of its high. How often do you get an opportunity like that.I might not like the guy, or shorters in general, but I might owe mr block a drink. How’s that for positivity.

Indeed. Behavioural investing. Individuals are tremendously consistent at doing the exact opposite of what they should, selling low and buying high!

18000 trades in one day! Average size about 1/5th of glaxo. Nothing to make sense of, it’s just a frenzy. Why would a bot sell 1 share, nuts.

I don’t agree with your sentiment, but I do think 8.50 is reachable again. Sticking to prediction of £19 by end Feb/results though.

Um. I can think of £520million reasons why some people trust NMC. And they have spoken to them. Why haven’t we had any research downgrades?

If you are holding, I think it’s simply now a case of patience. Can’t see them going bust. Worse case scenario is a longer road back to a reasonable level. Some predictions in Jan were that this stock was going to get kicked around until report and results out and that is exactly what is happening. Panic sell now would be a mistake. Too much ii money invested for this to be a dead duck. If there was new news we would have known by now, a shorter would have leaked it.

Ill be waiting . Need a good return to justify all the time posting conspiracy theories!!

Is it just shorters or day traders? I don’t short, but it seems volumes are not ridiculously high, to cause 10-20% swings like this. A £20m higher sell value seems to be knocking off 10% market cap! Here is hoping for a Tesla!

I don’t think it really matters whether it’s ftse100. There are about a dozen ftse100 firms being shorted at 2 or 3 x the level of NMC. It’s just this stock has a target on its back and is like a magnet to day traders hence the swings. Once we get some facts, volatility will stabilise and they will go elsewhere.

Thanks Darren. Not sure what your previous experience has been on this share, but many of us watching since mid December. Might be worth having a look at this board (filter out cmf1, he is an idiot), and you’ll see two camps. Maybe take a view after that, however £25-9 is not good, but many agree that the company is much more solid than that, but agree heels being dragged in report. However, NMC have not changed their planned respond, have placed £500m with institutions, and the shorters have had a field day.

And the theory is Dazza? Weren’t you predicting a turnaround recently?

Not sure how I feel about that, I am in at £14. Grrr, 3 weeks ago happy as a pig in poo. Don’t really want to trade down average, as one big piece of news can send shares up as quickly as no news has taken them down. Getting a bit bored of waiting though!

From 15.75-8.50 with no new information in less than a month! Ridiculous.
