ftseexplorer. Hello. No I haven't forgotten that conversation. Nick Read, with the support of the activists & the Arab support has obviously been trying to merge interests with other companies as they have suggested, & they also stated they support him. I don't know where you get this idea that they are investing in vod, just to sell it off? If they are, & vod can sell vod in its various parts, for more than the current sp, then I would be very happy, but that is not what they have said. But if you believe vod will be sold off for more that the current sp, fill your boots, & wait for pay day. Who is going to buy vod? An answer would be good. Sorry about the inane Friday close predictions, a bit below you perhaps? Some on here like.

Sorry rob, & no disrespect, but that is not news, it is history. I have already read it. Nick Read does not control the share price. The vod share price is control'd by negative comments such as comparing it to a beached wale. The only way the vod sp will go up, is if investors stop reading all this negative nonsense. Germany has big problems with regulation changes, & course they have more of a problem with Russia & energy prices than we do. Also as fleccy would argue, a beached wale, non moving share price, with a high divi yield, may still be a good investment. All I ask, is, if don't understand why vod is underperforming, please don't just come come up the usual nonsense, of sack Nick Read, It is a little bit more complicated than that rob, believe me. ftseexplorer. You say the company needs to be broken up & the parts sold. So who is going to buy the parts, & for how much? Unless you can answer that, I don't get the point of your comment. Why do you think the parts can be sold for more than the market cap value? You say, 3 months ago Germany was growing, but now it's declining. Could that be due to the Russian war perhaps? You could always just blame it all Nick Read I suppose? I think he has asked for a magic wand for Christmas this year?!

Nick Read's salary is about £3 million per annum. Very nice. Is he worth it? I don't know? Maybe not, but if vod reduced Nick Read's salary to zero, & the £3 million was retained by the company, it would have the affect of an increase in the share price, of about 0.014p per share, per year. So I think we should have a sense of perspective. Also Nick Read does not control the share price, that is the market. The only way getting rid of Nick would help the sp is if vod can find someone that the market would prefer, but as I am not an expert on these matters , for me, just doing the usual, knee jerk, sack Nick Read, would be completely pointless.

So rob. Another vote for you to adjudicate please? Nick Read , Back him, or sack him? Votes in by Friday Please. Just a bit of fun, But the real question who should replace him, &would he want an even bigger salary?

OakLodge. If your breakeven is 1.40 excluding divi's,you must be in profit including the divi's, as the last 3 years divi's alone come to about 11p, so your break even would be 1.29. Any divi's previous to then is profit,(including divi's). Excluding divi, of course you are losing, as I am. Looks like rob gets the thumbs up though?

robleo. Of course there is a possibility that that the management have not been doing a very good job? Possible yes, definite no. We don't know, because are not experts at managing a complex company like vodafone, so why do we make that assumption. Guilty until proved innocent perhaps?? As I have said, there are many other factors involved, so to just do a knee jerk, sack Nick Read is not very helpful, as I am sure you realise?

Hi robleo. You say" Mikey sometimes gets shot down for his views,but who knows, he could just be right". I have been trying for years to make some sense of Mikey's views, but all I get is bloody yanks, sack Nick Read, Ski slope moguls, nasty Putin, moan, moan, moan, Etc, Etc. As for mole, of course he may be right, but he explains his reasons, Mikey never has. & probably never will??

Hello OakLodge. Interesting post from you I think. I have been a vod shareholder for over 20years & also bought some at £2.20 & various other prices, but my average excluding divi's is more than yours. Are you including divi's in your average? But back to the point you made recently about unpredictable events effecting the sp, more than bad management, there have been many events that have effected the vod sp, including massive competition from other players, massive increases in licence fees, etc, etc, which were difficult to predict, which (correct me if I am wrong) was your original point? Those who just bang on about bad management, are completely missing the point I feel. If 10 to 20 years ago you could see into the future, (now) seeing everybody plugged in to there mobs all time, your would have bought into vod big time, but we did not realise how tight profit margins would become in this game. There is no point blaming Nick Read all the time, except as a scape goat. He can't control the vod sp, that is down to the market, he can't control unpredictable events & of course fleccy may be right when he says vod is way under undervalued anyway? I wish I had his confidence, but only time will tell?

You may have gathered by now, I have a sarcastic sense of humour, so no offense was meant. If I put L.O.L. after everything I say, I might get away it, but I cant stand the saying L.O.L., Cheers. Mikey. I didn't say only positive comments are allowed on this board, & never have, as you well know.. I was agreeing with Oaklodge when he implied that a bad share performance is often just down to the unforeseen, which I think is obvious, as opposed to management, (Nick Read for example), or other reasons. Mikey, calm down. I wasn't talking to you.

OakLodge. If it has taken you 50 years to work out that unforeseen circumstances have a big affect on stock market prices, (something most people could workout in 5 minutes) then I would just give up if I were you. However, I would agree that a bad performance in not always down to bad management? The name Nick Read comes to mind.

C.S.D.I. I agree. They have the evil Putin to moan about, we just have the evil mole-man, but we all like him really?, & he keeps us in check? We are not Putin free on here yet though, but almost?! Perhaps you spoke to soon?!

meshtrader, Can you please say who your post is aimed at? I gather it is mole-man ? But it would make life a lot more simple,if you just stated that in the 1st place, because it is not that obvious. Mole-man doesn't always talk nonsense??!!
