Bullish feel to the SP at the moment

Sounds interesting but what is the connection to Puretech?

Finally the SP in the US has woken up and now at $19.40 up 8.8%.

That may attract the attention of US investors on an otherwise dismal day on Wall Street

Volume is key as we now reach c1,000 trades so far today, significantly higher than any daily average of the past 6 months .

Given the relatively small free float and presuming loose sellers now gone after driving the SP down by over 50% in the past year , we could see a major resurgence in the SP even without newsflow.

If there is something else in the background then all bets are off and the SP could raise to levels not seen for over 3 years notwithstanding the dreadful stock markets at the moment. IMHO

We keep forgetting how important and exciting Gallop could be for Puretech .

Maybe investors are beginning to wake up and see all the jewels in the Puretech crown staring them in the face.

The volumes today are 10 times or so the average daily volumes of the past few weeks which may indicate something is afoot.

I have never encountered a share quite like Puretech where the SP continually trickles down almost daily following a year of very positive newsflow and where cash on the Balance Sheet is nearly equivalent to the market cap not to mention the 5/6 other major assets in Puretech's portfolio.

It almost seems that a hidden hand is controlling the SP slide to perhaps facilitate a low ball bid.

If BMS bought the company for say £2.5 a share it would be buying it for cash on hand plus royalties payable to Puretech from Cobenfy revenues with everything else for free.

I wonder what Invesco who own c17.2% ( down from 34% a few years ago ) are thinking at the moment about this current inept management.

The good news for me is that I sold a lot of my holding when the SP went to £4 a few years ago and have been buying back in over the past few months so my average price is c£1.50.

So not a desperate situation as such and I would buy more at these levels as I still believe something is going to occur to change this apparent valuation anomaly imho.

The 2024 Final results RNS is due shortly which may include some updates from this beleaguered management team.

Sadly Puretech SP down 6.7% on Nasdaq today at $16.7 reaching an all-time low.

The SP was $60 in April 2021 .

I was deeply critical of the current management in an email to Puretech IR for destroying shareholder value while still on huge remuneration.

Obviously I got no response.

Something has to happen to wake up this incompetent management .

After 6 years as an investor with over 200,000 shares I am getting angry as this constant inertia.

I think I will have a lie down ...the SP is up 4p.

Am I imagining it.

About time the relentless selling abated even for one day.

The Leerink SP target is just over 1 and a half times the current SP of $18 so a reasonably conservative share price uplift.

I would have thought a target nearer $70/80 would be more realistic.

Now dealing at £1.27 giving a market cap of £300m or close as damn it to the cash held in the company of $365m.

We don't know the structure of the royalties sharing agreement with Royalty Pharma other than $100m has already been paid in advance and a further $400m due on the achievement of certain sales milestones for Cobenfy, the exact amounts we are not privy to as investors which I find unacceptable.

As Golfnut says it would be wise for BMS to takeout Puretech for the Cobenfy royalties alone and I agree but the market seems to want to drive the SP below cash held on the Balance Sheet and ascribe no value to anything else.

Murky dealings perhaps but we can only remain patient.

The Investor Relations did not respond to my email which sums it all up.

As a large shareholder I am pretty disgusted by the lack of response.

I have sent an email to Puretech Investor Relations with comments along the lines of my post here today.

I will let you know if they reply.

The SP was £1.34 in October 2015 ...nearly 10 years later it is £1.37 after $150m share buybacks and huge success with drug development since particularly Cobenfy and LYT-100 plus Seaport, Gallop , Vedanta et al as well as now having cash on the Balance Sheet of c $320m and potential c$ 700m plus in royalties forthcoming from Royalty Pharma and BMS in relation to Cobenfy.

I remain at a loss to understand this apparent anomaly in market valuation but the slide continues unabated.

Are we all missing something here.

In nearly 50 years in the Markets , I have never experienced a share like Puretech where the SP languishes in a narrow range for month after month without any sign of a breakout and relentless selling even after significant positive newsflow.

I am bamboozled!

On mature reflection the problem I have with the Puretech Presentation and the Biotech TV interview is the managements almost total self congratulation of the Puretech science and drug therapies and little about the destruction of shareholders value.

Puretech is a Public Company whose main mission is to reward shareholders who have invested in the company not to be an academic Institution to primarily develop drug therapies.

There appears to be no accountability for management and its failure to translate scientific achievements with a corresponding increase in shareholder value.

A case in point is Cobenfy which they proudly boast of developing but missed out on a $14b payday by not going alone with this mega blockbuster.

The same could be said of Seaport where the company could have kept in house .

The company's business formula is to spread the risk but with c$320m in cash and a possible c c $700 /800m in Cobenfy royalties coming down the line, why persist with the hub and spoke model any longer which the market views as a quasi Pharma venture capital fund..

I always felt they needed a hard nosed Chief Executive who will shake up the cozy scientific based ethos of the Board and focus solely on shareholder value even if that means breaking up the company and selling up either via a buyout or selling the constituent parts.

The market cap is now lower than it was 8 years ago despite the $150m buybacks and the huge advances in the scientific drug development.

Something has got to give imho
