@blissful, fair comment..and i think 30mph is a more appropriate speed on that road,
but there will a few drivers getting 6 points, on the 1st day, and probably another 6 on the 2nd after the change, banned from driving, for driving at a speed which was acceptable on that road for decades. the approach should have been to install one of those 30 mph smiley face signs before the speed camera.. just one driver slowing to 30 slows everybody else at the moment the speed limit is exceeded reducing the risks, there and then.. simply fining allows the drivers to continue at the higher speed without mitigating the risks to the benefit of the authority collecting the fines.. not so bad, maybe for the first weeks only being able to issue 1 fine until the 1st has been paid...
we had a *** parade recently, the council put flags high across the roads to celebrate it everywhere , sure they could have done the same to push the 30 limit message....
