Why do you say it's bullyboy tactics? If somebody went around publishing criticism of your business or you personally what would you do? If that person had no money would you think you were being a bully? Had a look at the first page and it looks like PB USA have flagged up all the reviews and TrustPilot are looking into it. They will probably disappear soon. I haven't read it but the process is supposedly explained here https://support.trustpilot.com/hc/en-us/articles/207312237 If I had to guess I'd say PIE emailed PB and PB ignored their questions and came back with that statement in order to get a bit of free publicity about their launch :) Or possibly PIE emailed them and didn't get a reply so just printed some general statement that PB issued at some earlier time. If you look closely PIE don't actually say PB's comment was a response to the "mystery". To be honest PIE haven't explained the communication they have had very clearly. Perhaps there will be something that makes more sense tomorrow.

It will be intetresting to see how many of them return after review. No big revelations in regard to the situation Sain was highlighting concerning the USA bogus reviews. Just described by PIE as a mystery. Queue outrage by traditional Estate Agents who believe every negative review and think all the positive ones are fake :)

The more I think about this the more I believe these reviews are being posted by somebody with malicious intent. I could be wrong, I have been many times before :) I can remember asking my LPE to market my home as 5 bed and he said he'd have to speak to the lawyers at PB central first because one of the rooms was downstairs and wasn't configured as a bedroom. He said they had to be extra careful because they were under close scrutiny by the industry. So for them to post these UK reviews on the USA website would be pretty dumb because they know they're not going to get away with it. Looking at the review in Sain's link all I'm seeing is "Purplebricks United States of America (USA) reported this review for breach of Trustpilot guidelines". So at least it doesn't look like some organised attempt to mislead. Yet the self named "Sheriff of AIM" in his general sledging of PB states "In fact none appear to be based in the USA yet are reviewed as such. Talk about false and misleading advertising.". Sain, I appreciate this but think that it's reasonable that a company carries it's trust rating, to some extent, from one country to another. I would repeat however that if TrustPilot didn't agree to this then it is clearly wrong.

I'm not sure I agree. I see the TrustPilot score as a rating for the company. Do they have to have a separate score for their letting operations? For me, there's certainly a difference between a brand new company and one that is well established and has gained trust in another country. As a consumer, I think that would make a difference to your choice. If PB added the UK reviews without permission from TrustPilot then clearly that is wrong.

Back in the day (pre-internet) the Midas column was the most influential of all the tippers. I'm not sure about today.

If I understand correctly PB list all properties for sale by all agents. I've just sold a property in Florida and I paid 6% commission. A buying Agent was mentioned on the documentation and I'm pretty sure they get half of the commission with the listing Agent (the one I appointed) getting the other half (which he then shares with his organization in some way). It's something I hadn't appreciated but I think PB and/or one of their LPEs could well benefit from the buying agent commission if a buyer uses them as the buying agent. Could be wrong, I'm just thinking how it all must work.

Sain, just realised one of us has misinterpreted what is going on with the USA TrustPilot reviews. Probably me :) Is it i) TrustPilot removing PurpleBricks' own submissions and threatening action will be taken against PB (your interpretation i think) or ii) Some PurpleBricks employee dealing with actual new submissions and flagging them up for review by TrustPilot as is I presume the way these things normally work. (my initial interpretation)

Well the fact that they are i) using UK reviews and ii) rejecting reviews on the basis that they should be on the UK site is embarrassing for them. It doesn't seem unreasonable, provided TrustPilot agree, for some sort of trust rating to be carried over from the UK though.

Sain, The "lads and lasses" lack objectivity. For a while I worked with PeeBee looking at the portal juggling allegations and he couldn't look at the evidence objectively. Again, the figures he's using to show apparent bias by PurpleBricks and/or TrustPilot is clearly flawed. Then you have TrustPilot Rules. Chris Wood interprets them how he sees fit and expects TrustPilot to work to his interpretation. It is TrustPilot who decide how to interpret their own rules. These guys are so desperate it's embarrassing. They sens in complaints to the ASA about PurpleBricks but nobody is checking other Estate Agents' websites. I imagine a grat deal of the complaints Watchdog were receiving about PurpleBricks were from state Agents because Chris Wood has encouraged agents to complain. What did the Watchdog undercover operation find out? That a couple of the LPEs were exaggerating. Do me a favour? Somebody trying to sell you something exaggerating?

It wouldn't surprise me if the industry fights back by spinning the adverts as a UK company insulting the great nation that is the USA. God bless America and all that. Or perhaps they can fly under the radar as they have in the UK until recently? Interesting times.

milly1984, If it doesn't work in the USA it doesn't mean it's the end of the business. Sure the shares won't be valued at £4+ but that's just the value the market puts on the company. Good luck to them. I can't see it working out in the USA but you don't know if you don't try.
