Before we get anything like the Peel Hunt figures we have to get some sales.
In the frustrating lack of information on this matter I do wonder what is going on in the board rooms of our potential customers.
Are all the trial companies likely to want power towers as currently configured on their sites soon? In this country we are soon going to have a ban on red diesel for generators so each company must come up with a strategy to cope with that . Is afc the best cost effective alternative. Companies also need to reduce their carbon footprint.
Political and public pressure to do something is only going to get more intense'
Consequently one might assume, given our successful trials, there would be a queue for AFC products. Indeed, if I was a CEO of one of these companies I would be wanting to be early in that queue because I am not confident (given the lack of info to me) that AFC can produce quickly and at quantity. CEO's of course may be privvy to more info than me!
I would think the publicity win for a company showing they are embracing the technology would be well worth the punt alone , even with a limited allocation.
So orders, if they are coming, must come soon IMO.
At least one and probably all, of our potential customers must want to appear fully in tume with the green agenda. What better way to flag this up than with an order for AFC equipment. I certainly expect some news in the next two weeks.
I cannot imagine AFC releasing a product out into the market place without it being thoroughy tested beforehand. They must be very assured that they work and are practicel to use in the context of the placements. It would be foolhardy to release products that were not reliable and efficient. The consequences would be dire. They just wouldn't do it. I have every confidence in the product and the potential for large orders, otherwise i wouldn't be holding here.
Lets not forget Sunak has been Chancellor for 2 years recently. He's oneof the people who are responsible for where we are now. I wont be holding my breath for any significant emarks supporting the Green agenda. Neither do I expect anything likely spur investment in the UK manfacturing sector. Hopefuly I'm wrong.
It creates jobs by the need to install infrastructure, charging points in homes and in public places, battery factories, etc. It creates the need for manufacturing electric vehicles (probably not in the UK sadly). There needs to be a wide training programme to train up mechanics to maintain vehicles. Old carbon fuel car manufacturing plants will be phased out. Unfortunately I see the complete demise of mass vehicle manufacture in the UK due to Brexit, but that's what people voted for. Hopefully fuel cell manufacturers such as afc will get a boost.
Whilst I agree this is indeed excellent news I just hope the UK government follow up with the essential infrastructure needed to make recharging more convenient. Furthermore it is worrying that the UK battery factory is currently stalled due to lack of finance and BMW are sending electric mini production to China where they will be produced by "Great Wall Motors". There needs to be a rapid rejoining of the Single Market to facilitate cross border access to components IMO.
I am of course delighted that we now have units placed with three major construction companies. I am a little concerned that the deployment of the UK units is rather later than I expected. My concern is that the delay was caused by problems with supply of components and whether this is related to the generalsupply side issues in the economy many British companies are suffering. I really hope this is not the case . If it is, rejoining the single market is an obvious solution. Surely if Truss is focussed, as she says she is, on growth this should be a top priority for the government.
Well, knowing the "Power Tower" is alive an kicking is very welcome news especially when the source of the information is a customer. It certainly reafirms my confidence in the product and the company. It also makes me think the Power Tower is not just a precursor to the S series but a useful bit of kit in its own right.
The current state of the SP is indeed woeful but it is to my mind the result of the general downturn in tech stocks and the power cell sector. The silence of the company has only an effect because of the doubts it raises in investors minds about the viabilty of products. A few extra tweets might have been helpul in reassuring waverers. The news from Acciona is worth more than any comment the company might have made about the deployment.
I imagine that the partners/leasees will come up with orders soon after the trials are complete. I just hope the company are geared up for the dash or rush or whatever they choose to call the rapid production of units to deliver.
Whilst we have ths lengthy lack of information flow it is difficult to assess what exactly the status of the company's business is One of the factors that has affected ITM appears to be supply chain issues and I do wonder if this is a big issue for AFC. I think the uncertainty over trading arrangements and port difficulties due primarily to Brexit coud be causing problems and delays. Inflation must also be having an impact. A little clarity on these matters would help reassure me and other investors that things were on track. Sadly I see no sign of urgency on this from AFC or our government (or the Civil Service in its absence).
Given the worrying outlook for power generation in this country over the winter and the high possibility of power cuts I would have thought this was a prime time for a surge of interest in off grid power generation. Hospitals, data centres, police, military, there must be loads of critical infrastructure that will need a guaranteed power supply. Is AFC able to plug into this demand? Are we capable of winding up production to satisfy a sudden deluge of orders (I wish!)? Is the product ready for wider dissemination? After all the "Power Tower" is on the website and looks like a product ready for sale. We supposedly have a production line but no evidence that we are capable of producing multiple units at short notice off the shelf, weekly, (monthly, yearly!?). I have a horrid suspicion however, that our new/old government will just encourage people to dust off the diesel generators and get polluting again. Needs must I suppose. I can even see them reintroducing the red diesel subsidy whilst everyone is distracted by their food and gas bills.
If I were a potential customer of AFC I think I might pause any large capital commitments until after I had evaluated the approach of the government on alternative fuel technologies. What concerns me (apart from the lack of AFC news, which is getting a bit of a stretch even for the most positive of investors here.) is that our new PM, Ms Truss, has appointed the known climate change denier, "imperial measures" protagonist and devoted Brexiteer as Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. Now what does that say for the potential for alternative energy sources such as Hydrogen and the products AFC makes? Now this bloke is so retrograde in his views he probably thinks it would be a good idea to reopen the coal mines and restock the railways with steam engines. How British companies investing in new technologies are supposed to thrive given such a luke warm approach by government I do not know. I have a feeling AFC would be better setting up production in an EU based country where a more positive attitude might prevail.
Delighted to hear about the "Charge Ahead" . However, I would be even more delighted if they shared their "purpose, values, and priorities" with us poor information starved, benighted investors. Whilst I have faith in the ultimate success of AFC, a little more in the way of updates and particularly "priorities" for shareholders would be very welcome. After all we do collectively own the business don't we?
I am confident orders will turn up here in due course. With all the contacts, parners etc. etc. one customer wil eventually creep out of the woodwork amd place an order on a commercial basis and it won't be for one unit. So, I wonder how long would it take to deliver on say 10 units? The numbers could stack up quite rapidly as acceptance and consequently a show of faith in the technology by one major company would probably be a green light for others to part with some cash. We could quite rapidly see orders for twenty, fifty, a hundred even. Are we equipped and ready to cope with the potential demand?
As is the norm with AFC information on this seems sparse unless I have missed something. Can we supply large orders relaitvely rapidly from our UK facility?
I note that the article you found Mucksy points out that the UK could be a leader in the field of fuel cell development if sufficient support were forthcoming. It also points out that as with other technologies in the past we are in serious danger of falling behind and ending up selling off what we have got and buying in the technology later down the line. I remember other technologies in which the UK used to lead, computing, atomic energy, supersonic flight, blue streak even. All of these were screwed up by successive governments (mainly but not exclusively Tory). What do we think will happen this time? I have little faith in the "B" listers we have in government these days. Where's the pragmatism, where's the drive and where's the money?
You can hardly call this a spike. 80 was a spike. However, given the state of the energy market I can't understand why the whole alternative energy sector isn't far more popular than it is at present. Europe is being blackmailed by Putin with gas etc. Hydrogen is one solution, and if governments seriously commit as a matter of national emergency in the face of the likes of Putin then firms like AFC and their products might suddenly become very much in demand.
I just wonder how long it takes to manufacture each of the products afc offer........? Is the "production line" all set up and ready to go? The power towers look a fairly straight forward product, I cant imagine they require much individual tweaking for different customers.
There is no "bingo" here. Bond has a history of not releasing stuff for ages and then coming out with some game changing news. The market responds accordingly. Then we hear nothing for another few months. The SP drifts accordingly. I don't know how he does it or if it is deliberate because I am under the impression that news that is likely to affect the SP has to be announced, they can't just sit on it and wait till they want to announce it. So I'm not sure how hugely positive news can be held back until next week.
The performance of UK companies is directly affected by government policy. Since 2016 the performance of the stock market in this country has been woeful. This affects all companies including afc of course.
Comparing the Paris and London stock exchanges we can see that for 26 years 1989 to 2015 they had almost identical performances the FTSE rose by +181% and the CAC40 by +180%. But in 6 short years from May 2015 to Dec 2021 they manage to deviate by a massive 53%!!! The Paris exchange rose by 46% and the London fell by 7%.
AFC share price is affected by this environment and sentiment.
The government seems oblivious to the damage it is doing.
