Pedro I reckon cash assets now outweigh debt which is on a fixed rate & due for repayment over the next 2/3 years. Personally I would like to see CPI pay it off early & possibly they could negotiate a discount as current rates are higher than CPI are paying

The August results do need to be good.

With nil debt & probably some more sales before August & free cash flow I’ll be very disappointed if dividends aren’t reinstated

Apart from the share becoming income producing rather than simply a recovery investment it also shows to the market that the BOD have confidence in the company going forward.

Now would be a good time for Capita to start the buy back program

With the recent rise in interest rates I wonder if CPI could negotiate a discount for early repayment of debt maturities. It would also clean up the balance sheet.

Until we get resumption of dividends I don’t think we will get any permanent upward movement.

New contracts, disposals, elimination of debt etc only seem to have a very short term affect on the SP. So even if Dividends aren’t resumed immediately in the August statement I do hope that JL will announce a date for resumption

I suspect that lost pension contract was a loss making contract so good riddance to it.

I do agree in principle that it would be beneficial financially to outsource more.

However this means admitting that you are inefficient

A counter could be that Government/Councils etc decide that they can do things more efficiently in house (of course they can’t) & bring back work internally. The attraction for the government organisation is they can then employ more people & expand their power base. The end result, which takes years to become apparent, is an enormous increase in costs but those responsible have been promoted by then & moved on

With the sales already made + 6 months free cash flow I reckon that’s debt sorted.

i was looking at the potential of ai with capita & some back of a *** packet calculations

if 1000 staff (2% of total) are replaced by ai at £30k each/ year savings are £30m.

yes i know there are costs involved but i suspect £30k/ year is far less than staff are paid & it could be 5-10% of workforce.

i appreciate this may be a year or two down the line but hopefully this is where we are headed

My take on Dividends is that if net pre IFRS debt is eliminated & the company is generating profits & free cash flow it would be strange not to restart Dividends. I know they keep saying they want to strengthen the balance sheet but it is now fairly strong & getting stronger all the time. We just have to hope that the fallout/ costs re the breach are contained. Hopefully the August statement will be the long awaited upward catalyst

I emailed Stephanie Little (Helen Parris’ colleague) to ask if we are going to get a further update re the breach. She replied that unless anything changes from the original update on 10th May they are not intending to issue anything further.

An interesting point is the original update gave a cost of £15-20m, it appears that they still believe this to be an accurate figure.

I do think it disappointing that no market reassurance is likely to be issued. Seems that we’ll have to wait for August report on half year figures

@Trustfund Until we get a statement confirming that all problems relating to the hack have been resolved the uncertainty will continue. They were hoping to get a statement out by Monday but did emphasise them they couldn’t be precise on timing
