M - Tax Return deadline extended to 28th Feb - pressure off since Monday !!
Finished work at 6pm on Monday and 7pm yesterday - feel like a part-timer now.
Still got a few to do, but all the weekend jobs now postponed til next week - great excuse for me to work - to leave Mrs CSDI with the living room painting & decorating LOL

Help - IMB is tanking thanks to Capital Markets presentation

Not sure if too late but notice that Seeing Machines (SEE) been on a flyer recently - one on my watchlist - but of course decided on aother dud shares to buy instead. Typical CSDI.
Just mentioned for you guys, but I am fully invested atm and happy (maybe not) to stick with my duds.

Some stellar performances from the RBB this month.
Interesting to compare and contrast my buy and hold HYP strategy seems to be a long way behind you guys.
Even my "trading shares" going nowhere - with CEY, PDG and PFC all in the red atm.
Thanks to T I've got MCRO on my watchlist, but no funds available, as not prepared to give up any existing holdings.
I am surprised how +ve the overall market is in the face of all this Covid strain/news which must be delaying companies getting back to profitability in many areas. I am just an expert at picking the "wrong" shares clearly !

Just wanted to check all is ok in SIDI-land.
I am able to relax a little now as HMRC granted a 28 day grace for the 31st January deadline.
Still got plenty to do, as been behind my schedule all month, but can safely move work to next week without penalty now.
I have just been watching my club play two chess matches in the 4NCL, with one winning and one losing by same scores.
I will be playing my first game of chess this year on Thursday, playing against the No. 1 seed in a 5 round all-play-all competition. I have volunteered to play in a section with the best players just to even up the numbers. I will be lucky to score as many pts as Sheff Utd did in their first 5 matches of the season LOL.
Think my p/f has been drifiting down over the last week or so, but I have added another small trade with PFC.
Expect to sit on my hands for a while now unless something suddenly jumps up or down.
Have you been looking after our dogs as I've not been able to watch them recently.

Trust all is well and wish you good luck as always with the shares.

My chart of tax returns is definitely flattening off.
It peaked mid-Jan and is now in a steady bear market.
I am confident you can maximise your investment with a "short trade" expiry on 1st Feb - number of returns should be zero LOL.

Suspect it will be a rocky ride for my shares this week.
My Alli Trust "stocktrade" platform is changing ownerhip to Embark and has been down all weekend for the handover.

Have a rest from shares and chill out with a nice mug of coffee.
I had an early finish tonight at about 8.30 and had a long chat with one of my chess friends - nice to talk again about my favourite hobby. My club is arranging an international match vs Nairobi next month - a new adventure for us.

Just wanted to say thanks for the time and constructive comments - much appreciated.
Certainly gives me somrthing to get my teeth into.
Due to work commitments I am not likely to change anything short term, but will be interesting to see how the p/f changes over the next year or so.
I have some expectation to sell parts of IMB and GSK, hopefully after some imrpovement.
Then I have 3 short term trades with CEY, PDG and PFC which will be sold if they reach targets or drop to levels where I consider the downside risk is too great.
I would expect to hold the following for some time for income ASEI, AV(or replacement), BP/RDSB, GSK, HHI, IMB, NG, SUPR, VOD.
Additionally I would like to increase weightings in ASEI, HHI to closer to 10%.
I can see 20-30% of my p/f changing over the next 12 months.

PS2. Weekly review shows loss of 1% over week, vs my marker of FTSE losing 0.6%.

R - hope everything works out well for your youngest.
Several of my clients have had it, but all minor effects so far. Worst affected is a teacher in Gtr M/cr - came down with it on boxing day, improved, declined, improved, declined again but got back to work on monday 18th. I am sure teachers are very much more at risk than a lot of others.

S - good luck with the project. always good move to take profits out and do something with them - just a shame we can't book a cruise just yet.

My p/f has lost 1% this week -disappointing as FTSE only lost 0.6% - serves me right for plunging after PFC. Down on that 9.7% in 3 days - typical C S D I skill - lucky it's only 2.5% of p/f (my smallest holding). With GSK and RDSB/BP having a bad week it would always end is tears - as red as my face last night when I found Burnley beat my team.

Have a good weekend everyone. More work to do for me after tea - but have finished todays schedule -so can make some inroads to my arrears.

That gives me plenty to look through.
You will see I have been very blinkered just picking UK shares to date, with minimal Trust purchases.
Certainly need to spread my wings to give the p/f a better chance.
Just dont want to buy in neat tops, as I have history of doing so.
1st SIPP started May 2007, down 66% by Feb 2009. Closed in Sep 2017 at near to break-even.
2nd SIPP started Jan 2018, clobbered by Covid March 2020 and still fighting to get back to break even.
You will see the FTSE was very high at both starting points, when funds were invested.
My current concern is the US markets are very stretched and could drop a long way - and when the US coughs we get a bad cold !!

Not retired at all. working my cack off at the moment and then take it easy for next 10 months. About 30% of my years work done every January, thanks to HMRC's wonderful idea of 31st January deadline for Self-Assessment.
I have a very small business looking after other low income businesses and small ltd companies.
It started as a hobby in the 1980s when I had a proper job, but decided to jump out of the Rat Race andwork for myself.
Financially not very wise, but quality of life much better. Have been at home to see all my 4 boys grow up - oldest now 33 with 3 kids and youngest (19) at home with a 25 y/o step son and another 29 y/o with 2 children.
Surprised you did not work out my age from my i.d - 1962 - so that makes me 58 currently.
The SIPP is the remains of a company pension when I was working in the 80s which would not pay me until 65 and then only abour 3K p.a. So have had my 25% TFLS (much bigger via the CETV) and now draw down bits and pieces as and when needed to supplemeny my little business. Still mortgaged unfortunately with just under 7 yrs to run.
If I can have a good year with the little business (trade as limited co.) then put a bit into the pension, but have not been able to add since 2007 due to the crash when I lost a big chunk of business.
So getting on to my p/f, you are correct that it is mainly full of dinosaurs, but that's becuase I like the idea of divi income supposedly keeping capital intact. I have followed Midas Dogs of the FTSE scheme since 2002, and Stephen Bland's The Dividend Letter from 2009 to 2019. I like the latter's idea of a HYP but I seem to keep mucking it up. His p/fs have grown considerably over time, while mine have been a disaster - partly due to unlucky timing and mainly due to poor selections.
You will see from my notes I am keen to cut down the major holdings from 20% to 10% and would like to find a tech-savvy or growth sector shares to add to the boring FTSE100 holdings.
Whenver I look at shares such as SMT I just think they are so overvalued - but they keep rising while my shares keep falling.
I do have a 10% budget for "trading shares" but again I seem to get it wrong too often.
I have no worry over losing on shares and will always take a loss if I think there is little chance of recovery.
It's better to have 75% of something than 100% of nothing if it all went pear-shaped.
I am actually quite comfortable with my current p/f but always looking to improve it.
so where do you suggest I go searching to give it a "growth kick" ?
Ultimately I wil not be pursuaded to buy something off a fad, it has to be numbers based for me and so I will never catch the start ups, but also will never lose my shirt on a share in AIM.
So now you know why I call myself C S D I - Crap Share Dealing Ideas

Just about to start my next case - oh the joys of figures and Tax Returns.
My p/f not doing well at all this week. Today was 7 reds, 6 blues, with reds being much bigger unfortunately.
Hope to pick up some p/f ideas off Alas_Smith, who seems to have a good handle on things.

I've just completed a return for a Man U supporter - he gets charged double for supporting wrong team LOL
Just working on a Scouser's case tonight. To be completed tomorrow.
For Rugby I've always supported Leeds - which is a deal I made when I was milkman's helper as an 8 y/o.
He was a yorkie working on Merseyside, but supported Liverpool for football. At that time I loved listening to Eddie Waring on Saturday afternoon grandstand.
Most of my clients are from Wallasey/Birkenhead but I moved from there 22 years ago to be with Mrs CSDI.
Last night I was working on Tranmere Rovers supporter case and rang him in middle of match not realising they were playing LOL.
My best mate is an Everton fan and I happily go the Brian Labone lounge to eat their fabulous food and fill my face with the free beer courtesy of my mates expensive season tickets.

My trade side has exceeded my 10% of p/f.
Added 3% into PFC at 112.7p yesterday - down already
got 7% of p/f in CEY (average 130.4p) and I am down on that 6%
got 4% in PDG at 13.8p
So all in all not great, but these are much smaller amounts than you guys trade.
Also did a swap yesterday, selling pt RDSB, to move to BP for the higher div with all my divs from Q4.
Time for fish fingers and then back to the slogathon. Now done at least 12 hrs for 15 of 16 days and still 2 days behing schedule !

That's a good idea. As investors there is no need to look all the time.
for me, I can have 3 looks a day - one 9am, one around lunch, one around market close.
For day traders it is more useful to be monitoring all day.
sometimes it's good to change the scenery and have a break.
Enjoy your netflix, and catch up whenever it suits you.
You don't have to say, but I know can be very repetitive as that is my nature.
Just be glad you don't have to put up with me every day like Mrs CSDI.

I've been a very naughty boy today and been playing with my shares !
sold SUK2 this morning - as wasn't moving - so complete waste of time with breaking even
sold one batch of RDSB for a miniscule profit (<1%), and bought BP with this money + my divis money @301p, so have increased my % of oil from just under 11% to 12.5%.
and then did a risky purhcase of PFC @ 112.5p. Just over 2.5% of p/f so no problem if goes pear shaped.
Ended the day with 8 blues and 5 reds, but overall value dropped a little again.
Annoying when p/f goes down with more winners than losers - but that is due to the big value holdings not doing well.
So 12 sessions into new year, I have 6 up and 6 down days, but lucky the FTSE is up 4% and my p/f is matching !
At least our 4 dogs all behaved today, and note that GGP up a little too - hope that means a better day for you than me.

Late starts all round. Your coffee normally on the go long before I decide to get out of bed.
With Mrs CSDI off work this morning, a chance for a bit of a "lye-in".
I've just sold my SUK2 position as going nowhere. The FTSE holding its own for now. No doubt that will be trigger for steep fall, but I hope not.
Thinking about what to add, but will leave alone until can think more clearly.
Good to see GGP picking up today - will give your p/f big boost
For me, it is 8 blue, 2 red, 1 green so far but not making any impact. CEY at least +2.5% today is my best, but got a lot of work to do to make up for losing every day since buying on 7th Jan.
Good for you with lifestyle if it makes you happy - that's all that matters.
I am lazy most of the year, so have to work hard for few weeks. Could make it easier for myself if I did more sooner in the year. But Leopards don't change their spots - and Mrs CSDI does nag me to get ahead as always worries if I become ill in January every year. Maybe a little change over next 12 months, if she comes back to work with me like we did 2001-2003.
It would only need about one day a week and she would make a huge difference sorting out a lot of the non productive admin. My pension nowhere near enough to replace my job, so work for many years yet. Still have big mortgage until 65 as we both started from scratch after difficult divorces.
Right better get crackin' as had a nice quiet start to the day.
