Just a quick hello.
Trading seems to be almost non existent judging by the number of posts in here over the last few months.
My little ISA stuck in the mud, down about 7% on PSN, but nursing much bigger losses from previous forays into POLY et al. Missed my planned top up this week as funds not arrived. No rush and can wait until next month for my little addition.

Exciting addition to the family, we have a 9 week old golden-doodle, who is not golden at all - more cream colour and looks like a teddy bear, big paws for a pup, so had to call him "Teddy". Mrs C is delighted, although tired, as we all take care of him in shifts. Hard work keeping him safe until all injections done and allowed to venture out. He's like a hoover picking up everything in his mouth all the time. funny I thought my parenting days were well finished, but apparently not LOL.
Trust everyone takes care with our heat wave, and good to see "O" has been having fun on his travels.

This week is our 20th wedding anniversary, so planning a little meal for Mrs C.
Our aniversary is on the same day as one of my sister's birthdays and our eldest grand-daughter on the same day will be 9 !! So a lot to pack in.

Please to report that my one share (PSN) has recovered a little and is now down only 6%. It has also reduced my overall loss since starting the ISA. It will be a slow journey on the road to recovery, and expecting to add a few more shares on 10th (monthly purchase day) August and September, provided SP remains below my current average cost. Although it may make sense to buy when the SP is on the up, rather than trying to catch the proverbial falling knife.

Hi Everyone

The sun is getting ready to come and out play .... so get your skin well protected ... and if you are as bald as me do not forget a hat or cap !

Seems T is the only one still trading - certainly some opportunities around with these jumpy prices - always a feature in bear markets that rises are short and steep and drops are more prolific.
Just holding onto my few PSN shares, ans looking to add a few more to get towards my target of a £5K ISA.
Unfortunately I've lost nearly a grand of what I've put in, 60% of it lost mainly on POLY which I have desserted, and about 40% of it with PSN but still holding these. If I can keep adding while SP is low, will take less of a jump to get back to break-even and then onward and upwards if I keep my patience and stick to my plan.
At the moment I am quite relieved that I bailed out of POLY, but very disappointed with chopping and changing that made matters worse than it needed to be. I can't remember previously holding a share that was kicked out of the FTSE Russell indices and still continued to trade.
Now got all my eggs in one basket on the basis the jam would be spread too thin if I had more than one share.

Hope everyone is keeping well.
Things very quiet in here - assume due to weather, holidays and dull market.
I've let AJ Bell add a few more PSN shares for me, with a fixed date order to buy £200 worth yesterday, for a £1.50 commission, and the DRIP today to reinvest my recent divi for another £1.50 fee.
So managed to increase my number of shares from 127 to 142 and get the average cost down a fraction to 2088p from 2121p. Time to sit back and wait for next month's fixed date order to add a few more shares.
No idea where the SP is heading short term, but holding out for a jump back to £25 in the longer term - however long it takes.
Really enjoyed the cricket these past few weeks with England's new approach to Test Matches. Very positive so far, but will no doubt cause some losses and criticism in due course.

Morning all/afternoon maybe

Just a quick update from me.
Decided the risk with POLY was too great, so sold out out again at another loss.
Moved a bit to CEY and then decided to move that into PSN after the big ex div fall.
So now got all my eggs in one basket (case !).
down 11% currently on PSN.
But down 27% on my overall ISA in just 4 months, after taking losses galore on POLY.
Oh well I knew it was high risk/reward, but have not helped myself with jumping in and out and shaking it all about !
As I've not added fresh funds for a couple of months, will look to add to PSN in due course.
Current sentiment is poor, but I am not trying to trade, so will just look to average down and hold for long term.
Have a target in mind of £25 to sell first batch, if it ever works out how to go up instead of down.

Afternoon all to The Trading Wizards !
I'm sitting on my hands for now, still holding only PSN and POLY.
Am considering a short term switch to CEY, as hitting 5 years lows areound the 80p mark, with a US 5c divi next week.
Would have thought Gold was a safer haven than most atm, but the market does what the market does.
Looks like Man C romping to the Prem title, which is a shame for my Scouse reds.
FA Cup final on Saturday - where LFC will be bookies favourites, but Chelsea know how to stop them playing. I fear a very disappointing end of season for LFC.
Oddly enough I will be at Goodison next Thursday with my best mate's posh lounge tickets, to watch The Toffees trying to complete an escape from relegation.
Seem to be picking up some new bits of work, so help keeping me busy. Meanwhile trying to pursuade Mrs CSDI to fully retire from the NHS and cover some of my admin. Just have to be careful not putting too many eggs in the one basket as still got few years of mortgage to pay.
Coming to terms with shock of elec & gas price hikes. Was paying £116 per month in January on a fixed price contract running til April. Company went bust and got moved over to Br Gas with an immediate 40% rise in tariff, then another 40-50% rise on 1st April. Now paying £225 p/m. And not to mention the increae in fuel costs - was 125p per litre last May, now 175p/L for a mere 40% increase. Just add in an extra four rises in mortgage interest rates and we have a flavour for what everyone is suffering.
Can't wait for headlines saying inflation gone down to 5%, but when it's a double cost base, that makes it 10% ofthe old cost. Will we see gas/elec/fuel prices come down ? Just like when fuel was a £1 /L during covid when no one could drive anywhere - very helpful .... not

Evening all

Another week been and gone. Nothing to report with the shares as still holding just PSN & POLY - with both down.
No panic just need patience I hope.

Got my eye on Liverpool going for gold in everything but fear there will be a lot of disappointment - with Man City taking the Prem League, chelsea steeling the FA Cup and Real Madrid being too street-wise and outfox the Scousers in the Champs League. Funny really I always take the pessimistic view. My best mate needs my to go to Goodison Park for their last two games as Everton do well when I am there LOL.
Chess club is thriving and I am in my element organising all sorts of internal competition - league tables and stats galore.

O - keep up the good work with all the fund raising. Your idea of the FTSE feeling like a 5500 market is pretty sobering.
T - keeps chipping away with the spikes - nicely done there with OCDO
N - fingers crossed with POLY, which I am down about 15% so far.
Despite what I said about SBs, I've been trialing a demo with CMC, just working on LLOY patterns. One little profit trade and one ongoing which is down a bit. I think using an SB may be a better way to trade for a penny profit per trade times a few pounds per point. Funds not yet in place to go live though. Notice there is a big increase in margin requirement from when I last did some SBs, which is probably better for risk reduction with the leverage.

Good evening/morning Brigadiers

CSDI got bored with LLOY and my trading plans have been gazumped - closing out at just above breakeven.
Decided to reinvest proceeds into POLY & PSN - so only have two shares now.
POLY is still the binary bet - an all or nothing punt - but only 500 shares in total.
PSN is my big income share - yielding over 11% at the mo - a sure sign of possible trouble.
Hoping to add few hundred quid to the kitty next month, and will have to decide whether to keep adding to these two or start on a 3rd share. Probably not enough capital invested to go 3 ways.

Always keep an eye on here to see what you guys are trading as I would like to accumulate more share in one stock but LLOY failed to light my fire. One of the LLOY posters seems to make small gains most days through spreadbets which is another angle to consider but I am not considering opening an SB account, as don't have sufficient capital to cover leveraged position(s).

CSDI p/f update
1. Sold DLG (only £500 worth) at break-even today after ex div
2. Bought LLOY (ditto above) - now got 3 batches to try and trade using "T"s acculumation system. now that dealing cost is down £4.95 per trade, I can aim for small percentages. Obv would be better with bigger batch size than £500, but hey ho let's ses how it goes.
3. Added £300 to the kitty and bought another 110 POLY to reduce my average cost this morning. Might use this little batch to trade while keep hold of the big batch for LTH (200 shares - wow).
4. Would like to add some more PSN but no funds avialable yet - so will have to wait until next month to top up.

Trust all the brigadier's doing well.
Had my first visit to chess club last night for 4 weeks - scrambled a draw against one of our up and coming youngsters.
Tuesday night played online and came off 2nd best against the wife of a Grand-Master on board 2, while another of our young players had the challenge of playing the GM - the first time our club has ever come accross a GM in a match.
I did once play Nigel Short when he was a kid (and I was 13) and got a draw, so I can claim to be unbeaten against a former World Champion Runner-up !
Getting fed up with the chatboards for LLOY and POLY, so decided to look in here for a bit of sanity.

Just recovering from a few days of Covid. have been in bed most of last 2/3 days, so done no work this week - whch is a problem as tax year end. If feel better tomorrow, will have to crack on to sort as much as poss by Tuesday. Hey ho.

Have just added a few hundred quid to my new ISA, to take up to £3K. Hope to add further £2K over next few months.
Currently got DLG, LLOY, POLY & PSN - all between £500 and £700 in each, with about £500 in cash. Thinking I will sell DLG around ex div, and trim to 3 shares otherwise. Hope to to trade the LLOY one using the "T" technique to accumulate a few extra shares at a time. POLY has to be a LTH with big risk/reward. Not sure I want PSN and LLOY as both too dependent on just UK. Could do with a different sector share to make up part of a 3-share p/f. Might go for one of my old faves like IMB, and ULVR also considered.

Talk about living up to my name .... CSDI
Decided to sell my RR shares for a 5% profit after costs, and gone back into POLY based on the positive news (maybe) with potential peace talks etc. Only got 200 shares @ 332p, when did have 500 @ 192 a couple of weeks ago !?
Have set targets to offload 25% at 670p, £10, £13.50 each. Might never happen but at least it's a plan. Provided they don;t go down the pan, should get a divi of >10% p.a.
Expect to trade my LLOY shares around ex div date next week., and try to accumulate using T's procedure

Mornng all
Had a great time at Bahrain GP. Managed to go on my first ever pit lane walk on Thurday night with my best mate's son, while friend was working !! He bumped into a old "karting-competitor" in the Aston Martin garage and arranged to meet up in Irish Bar in town later that night. No wonder Lewis had brake problems on Friday as all the mechanics were trying to keep up with my drinking LOL. The race was what we wanted - a new challenger in the form of the Ferraris - with a superb seat view just ahead of the start/finish line. Some great action into the 1st corner especially when Le-clerc and Verstappen were going at it. The Safety Car brought all the cars closer together for a fun finish too. Mind you it was very expensive over there, as a round of drinks for 4 of us cost about £80 (Beer & a short each x 4).
Got back home Tuesday to a house full of flu - with Mrs and my 20 y/o testing positive for Covid on Wednesday morning, and the 26 y/o recovering from flu. Touch wood I'm ok so far, but could not risk going to my chess club as we have several vulnerable (old) members.
with my ISA, I got panicky with POLY when hearing they were being removed from the FTSE, as understood (incorrectly) that I would not be able to trade them after 21st, so took at loss of approx £200 on the £1K invested. Only realised later that they could still be traded (a bit like many others not covered in the main indices).
So added DLG to my p/f. I need to diversify a bit for my next purchase as LLOY. PSN, DLG all similar. Wonder whether to follow T's idea of trading - with LLOY to try and increase holding by few % as got close to 50p pretty quick. Seems to have a range of 45-50p which would be nice if trading £5K a time, but I'm only £500 batches. I have a plan to buy NCYF next month with a view to reinvesting divis on the DRIP scheme, with a yield around 8%. I think this could be a good share if interest rates continue to climb as will mean higher coupon returns on their investments.
Missed all the 6-Nations action last weekend, and frustrated we have International Football wasting our time this week. Should be a good title race bw Man C and L/pool, while hoping LFC can do it, my head says Man C have the better overall squad and will prevail.

Afternoon Brigadiers

Over the last couple of weeks I've just put a little bit into my first S&S ISA - £2.5K and bought 5 batches at £500 approx each. LLOY, PSN, RR and two risky batches of POLY.
I've gone with AJ Bell and dealing is £9.95 per trade for now.
I am hoping for decent recoveries from the first three, with POLY being effectively a binary bet - could be worth nothing or 5 to 10 bagger.
I will wait until next month before deciding whether to add a little more, but not planning to trade.
My plans are to aim for a 25% profit on any purchase, as the values are only very small.
It's a start, so will see how it goes.

i've had 3 chess friends pass away in the last 6 months, two from covid (compounded other health problems) and one who had long term issue requiring his own oxygen supply/ventilator every night. (Ages 59, 65 and 72)
It makes you realise that you have to make the most of what time we are given.

I am looking forward to the new cricket season to resume my scorers role. I've been playing chess face to face again for most of the last 6 months.
Mrs CSDI has reduced her working hours to half a job, as a "job-share" with another NHS midwife.
We've become grandparents again (just before xmas) - so all in all keeping busy.
And still managing to do a bit of work when I have to.
Next week my best mate is taking me to Bahrain for the F1 GP !!

Hi Mr T and all the Centaminers

I've been out of shares since May and seem to have got lucky with my timing there.
I've been running sown my SIPP to pay off debt, and have just one small investment in a Vanguard FTSE 100 fund.
My plan is to sell out if FTSE hits 7500 and transfer the money over to an ISA investment in due course.

More importantly just to wish everyone here a merry xmas and a prosperous new year.

Just thought I'd pop in to wish you all a merry xmas and a prosperous New Year.

I have been running down my SIPP to pay off debt, and still have a small amount remaining.
I have also retained approx £7K purchasing a Vanguard FTSE 100 fund between June and September, with a plan to sell if the FTSE gets to 7500. That will be withdrawn in 22/23 tax year to fund an ISA following S-As suggestion some time ago !!

Just thought 'd say hello before the big match tonight.
I had the disappointment of being at Wembley for the england vs Scotland game - what a load of rubbish that was !
Two great games yesterday - any chance of a repeat would be nice - but not expected with England.

Tomorrow I'm doing my first full day of appts since last February - now that I'm doubled jabbed and ready to rock.
Thursday got my last chess match of current online season and praying we can restart proper chess by September - bot local league not yet sorted its act. So I've made provisional plans to start a separate league if needs be on a smaller scale.

Cricket scoring on Saturdays proving to be a big hit for the team. My love of stats and spreadsheets fits perfectly.

On the investment side, I've bought a starter batch (£2.5K) of Vanguard FTSE100, while I am sitting on the cash.
Funds being withdrawn monthly to max basic rate tax allowance and avoid any high rate tax.
Will add another batch on any decent drop (over 5%). Not sure about adding if FTSE climbs.

Trust all Brigadiers trading profitably. For me pulling out of the trading arena has sharpened up my billing levels - so Mrs CSDI very pleased with recent performance on and off the field - LOL.

Got a week off next week, so we're having a couple of days away over in Yorkshire - hope to visit one of my sisters near York and pop up to Whitby/Scarborough.

The boys at home progressing well. 25 y/o just finished frist yr electrican course and found a more rewarding job at Currys back on the carphone warehouse side. The 19 y/o settled in as a kitchen designer with B&Q and recently bought his first car - a little old Fiesta 1.6. Odly enough we have 3 Fords bw us now, Focus for Mrs. Mondeo shared by me and 25 y/o. Fiesta for 19 y/o.

Morning all
Just a quick hello and hope everythong going well for all Brigadiers.
Still having some fun (not) getting dividends paid. At least my funds out of Stocktrade now and sitting in Scottish Widows Control account awaiting my first withdrawal. Will be taking some each month to avoid HR tax, and used to pay down debt.
Will of course pick-off in order of highest interest rate charged ! - You would expect nothing less from me.
Enjoying the test cricket - but only watch the BBC2 highlights in the evening.
My team gone top of the league last week and progressed in the Club National Cup KO too.
Just hope the weather stays good as makes a massive difference.
Next week I've got an international chess club challenge (online) where we are lowest ranked team by a long way and then it is Covid Jab No. 2 due on Wednesday.
Nice to watch the markets from a safe distance.

Evening all
Stocktrade have done it again. This time withheld 20% tax on SUPR divi. Should be paid gross in a SIPP !
At least all of my funds now out of Stocktrade and on their way to Scot Widows, where funds will be withdrawn over time, to make sure all within BR tax band. It does not matter whenever I withdraw the funds as will always be taxed, as will either be working or have state pension + reduced work.
As suggested by T I will keep a back a small amount to invest but vast majority will be paying off debt.
Still have a few hundred quid to collect in divis but this will be added to the accounts for withdrawing in due course.
My current line of thinking is that I will refrain from buying individual shares when I restart in a couple of years.
I will simply buy or sell the FTSE via ETFs using LUK2 and SUK2 to effectively double the value of the investment !
Hope everyone has an enjoyable BH weekend. I will check in each weekend to see how everyone is doing, and hope one day that we can have our "Brigadiers Celebration" at a mutually agreeable location.

Thanks for all the kind words.
T - That is certainly one of my intentions, to keep a small bit back and put into an S&S ISA.
I will keep an eye open to see when and if the Brigadiers are getting together later in the year, as no reason why I should not meet up if it can be arranged. Now who was handed that task ?
