Could be a need for creative trial recruiting ... Still, a lot of people testing positive so then give them the option of being in the trial ... would be quite a dilemma if the Gov wants to push forwards the Oxford vax on data from 20,000 volunteers of whom only 20 had the virus... especially if it followed the monkey data pattern of it just makes the disease less intense but does not prevent the spread...

Yeah though I also hope it just fades away the likelihood is it will settle into some form of seasonal outbreak pattern...There are actually over 20k of volunteers worldwide willing to be infected for purposes of getting a vaccine too!

It does raise some interesting questions about trail recruitment in the UK though and how if it ever happens they may impact on a COVIDITY trial... I think there is still plenty of the virus out there to conduct a valid trial even if it's not done in the UK ... hmm Sweden maybe

I wonder if when Cobra say when the vaccine is ruled safe they are meaning when tox studies which are probably now being carried out on mice are successfully concluded.... Obviously lots going on but we need that one big dot of trial green lit and fully funded.

They just need to attract the attention of that other COBRA now lol

Ahh sorry, Moljen I have not viewed that one of Campbells vids I was going off previous reports but yes that makes sense too... Still, loads being learnt about this virus as said though that is a positive as the alternative of people becoming infected multiple times in a short period is horrible.

We can compare the science behind the vax's though ... of course you are correct until trials are completed no one really knows I think we all think scancells approach at least deserves that trial no one is saying Oxford and Imperial should not have been supported and funded but other valid candidates such as Covidty ought to be backed through trial too... If the Oxford vax is successful the manufacturing capacity of Astra looks amazing

My understanding of the whole people testing positive twice phenomena is that in fact they never become uninfected in the first place... the virus can enter other organs than the lungs and be undetected there until it causes symptoms... Obviously people are most infectious when they have the virus in the respiratory system.... Shows the need of a good potent vaccine that can fully clear the virus with antibodies and high avidty T cells :)

I reckon most of the vaccines on trial will produce antibodies against the targeted S spike... It is how potent they are and how long-lasting an immune response that is going to be most important for the most successful vaccines and also how they deal with any virus that is mutating ..... Probably less effective vaccines will be fast-tracked before more effective ones just due to desperate need hopefully that does not mean the 'second generation' of vaccines then simply get shelved as - problem solved - next

We just do not know the longevity of the protection could it be months could it be a couple of years .... Lindys potential 5-6 years sounds best to me lol and surely to the Govs that will have to pay for the vaccines!
