Quite a few considering this should be worth 12p if the offer goes through...
You can't say you dropped the share on Wed and now rate it as a Buy, that's far too inconsistent... There's been no news to suggest that this is any better an investment than a hundred and one other oil companies...
What a haemorrhage this stock has suffered...but after the announcement of no known reason for the shares losing half of their value, there has to be at least a significant upside here. Any other opinions? Cannot myself find anything that would justify such a fall, save mildly concerning news being released at a time when the market is scared stiff!
Am getting quotes...but I've had similar troubles with other shares so far this week.
or is there something more at work here...
Having read through the entire offer RNS, there is no suggestion that one wouldn't benefit. The offer date was merely when the then value of the company was taken into account, it seems as though one has up until the Court Hearing (for the merger to be passed) to invest, and so be considered for the new-value Impellam shares, which will pay a premium on current holdings. I admit that I don't know why the price hasn't immediately spiked up to such a level, perhaps it is because the General Meeting for CSV has to approve the merger (though a formality considering the majority shareholders are in favour). We shall see...
Yes, I think it's still there. HSBC isn't offering anything at this minute, very strange. I did get in for a small punt at 1.74, having read the RNS. At 2.15 a share, it's a decent premium, but as always, seems too easy...
Apologies! Just a temporary blip with HSBC I think, though no idea why...
I wonder why...
Sensible decision...thanks for the suggestion though, will do a bit more research, weigh it up (quickly enough) and perhaps put a bit in. Definitely worth coming back at the start of April, situation will no doubt have changed...
Post here as much as you want (within reason). You're merely recommending, not ramping...and certainly not chanting about how well you're doing from your investment - feel free to make all observations you wish.
Another company with clear potential, and certainly at something of a low point in its fortunes, but like so many firms that are 'starting out' as it were, the SP often drops until there are tangible developments, as in the case of this contract. Could no doubt rustle up a couple of hundred for it, maybe a bit more. Will have to see, certainly a rise is in order at some point in the near future, and once Q3 arrives, it should be most positive...
25-FEB-2008 15:17 LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Emap PLC said its shareholders approved the scheme of cash acquisition by Eden Bidco Ltd, a company formed by private equity firm Apax Partners Worldwide LLP and by Guardian Media Group PLC (GMG). On Dec 21, Emap had said it had recommended a 470 pence per share cash takeover from Eden Bidco. The deal valued Emap at some 1 bln stg. *** Directors jumped ship before this bit in ***
Quite true, I should probably know better! If repeated, you'll get the same return, and if you find the window closes, you've only lost a little. Wise decision :)
Ah, I see. I was going to try 1k to see, but clearly it won't allow that. Pity...
How small are we talking? Certainly the company cannot continue without sustained funding, so should the company be wound up, one would feel there is money to be made. But still, could be a little while yet...
People are clearly laying into this...
Certainly good advice, this has effectively shed 50% so far...
A strange interlude...
I don't know how, but it doesn't look good, I certainly think the SP will fall sharply if that is possible, definitely not a buying opportunity...
