Just to add, at least 50% of that will go to the Tanzanian gov through taxes etc + there is recovery costs, so maybe your $1 billion as a nett figure is not so far out.

I agree matherdj, it is not clear what type of supply they mean? There are several projects under way, two below.

1.0 Gas pipeline from Tanzania to Uganda
2.0 The supply of electricity to the Southern African partnership through High voltage lines from electricity generated directly in Tanzania.

Both I know are being worked on but I have no idea where they are in the design development, last I heard was their were issues with the plans for the oil pipeline and the gas was to run alongside.

An additional billion cubic feet a day is a huge quantity, the 36 inch pipe that runs up the coast to dara has a similar capacity I believe.

TPDC just presented at the Oil and Gas congress, they estimate that the additional supply of gas to Kenya and Uganda will involve 1 billion cubic feet per day demand within 4 years.

+1 I thought the same Smudge, my guess is, no they don't need it for the appraisal licence but do need it for the 25 year development licence and field development.

The political landscape is looking good at last, I don't think we have long to wait for the appraisal licence.
