….. point out the benefits - the pay rise and call the potential strikers bluff by saying - if you think you could do better then it may be time to end our relationship…….
The potential strike would in my most humble opinion simply crumble and a consolidated pay rise already paid seem a very good deal.
Erik - yep via Quidco so get a gift card too
Polly,
My boys have moved to Toronto so no need for BT Sport - by moving my bill goes from £92 down to £29 - I did rty to renegotiate mid term but they were not interested in coming close.
I will be voting with my feet - probably to Plusnet BB and mobile at above prices.
I would be insane not to - not disloyal.
I have for years been a quad play BT consumer
Mobile
Land Line
Broad Band
BT TV - BTSport.
My contract expires in November and I will then be switching to PlusNet or similar (not talk talk ????).
Unless you switch even renegotiation is costly with 3.9% plus CPI
my current contract includes a landline I never use as it is 40p to even connect a call.
I will miss BT mobile as it has been brilliant but with Broad band it becomes expensive.
Will be sad to leave but feel I am being mugged with each monthly direct debit.
Strangely when I recently inquired about renegotiation the ‘colleague’ on the call had no idea what Quad Play was.
The online ***** fight between contributors on here adds nothing to the debate - far from it it muddles any constructive dialogue about BT. Please could it desist.
Meanwhile this article clears up some of the confusion regarding food banks.
Happy Sunday everyone.

My friends work in Public Transport - they earn £9.90 and hour - overtime is paid at £9.90 and hour. None of them use a food bank .
As a retired BT employee of 37 years I now think I was very lucky to have been so well paid during my time at BT.
These are not low wages compared to the rest of similar skilled workers.
They just are just being told they are.
They are all free to leave and work elsewhere if the rewards are better and the grass is greener.
Anyone voting for strike action will have been brainwashed- £1500 a head is a real gift. GLA
Re Polly picker comment.
A £1500 increase on the quoted £20511 wage is an increase of
7.31%. Why would you strike and loses days pay at a time for peanuts more?
It would not surprise me. BT have played a flanker by paying the £1500 to all.
A good pay rise for those at the bottom - why would they vote to strike with so little to gain -
If BT ‘caved in’ and gave 5 or 6% to all would the lowest paid have the €1500 reduced to satisfy the C3’s who want to maintain the differential ??????.
A pay day up 4.58% long May it continue.
GLA
I despair at the pointless comments on here.
Meanwhile in the grown ups world. - what are thoughts on Mr Drahi?
Is he waiting to see if his potential bid will be blocked before he makes it?
What are thoughts on whether a strike ballot will get over the line?
And what about that billing court case bubbling away?
Lots to write about without personal attacks etc etc.
Appointments to the Order of the Garter are personally made by Her Majesty The Queen.
You may wish to remember that and not joke about such an important investiture with comments about her third eldest.
I would doubt there is much appetite for strike action given :-
A) BT / OR have given a £1500 pay rise to all
B) the lower paid staff thus get a higher percentage
The gain from striking now would be eventual pay rise - £1500 and if renegotiated cut results in a scaling down for the lower paid.
A few days strike could take a year to recoup and stealth vengeance from the Management could be costly in terms and conditions.

On Tuesday another 6 month milestone is reached and Mr Drahi May or may not have increased his holding to the point he may or may not in cahoots with other major ‘King Makers’ make a full bid for BT.
Is it right that HMG can step in and potentially block a deal in a company it sold off in 1984 even relinquishing its Golden Share some decades ago.
Is this having its cake and eating it?
Is this an affront to a free and open Market? If it sold off BT it sold off its rights to control it.
Should a bid be blocked should we the investors have rights to sue HMG for unfair practice??
Your thoughts please - and Happy Weekend.
Pokerchips - that is not Altice
The Gov Inquiry into Altice holding must be completed by 7th July according to their rules.
That is 30 working days from advising of activation.
Readers my be interested to learn that computer game TETRIS is 38 years old today - this is two months older than BT which floated on the market on 6 August 1984.
I have held BT shares since the launch day and now feel very old indeed.
In reply to Grs24
I too feel the strike will fail.
BT have given everyone £1500 which means the lowest paid - and the majority - have been given a lot in percentage terms. A renegotiation could see this go.
In these times £1500 is a great pay rise - a strike will not achieve much more - and any wages lost will take a long time to recover.
I think BT have been generous in this pay award and the ones who are getting twitchy about lower paid getting more need to think carefully.
Pokerchips :-
Win or lose you buy the booze ??????
I am teetotal by the way .
Interesting to see that possible charging the high data streamers such as Netflix - Amazon - Apple etc has once again raised its head.
The effect on BT could only be very positive should it come about.

These were good results - and a decent final dividend as promised.
Cash return on BT Sport JV too.
See what June 14th brings - Mr Drahi must be filling his boots ??
Hope in June ……. Or December …… we will see what Mr Drahi will be offering for what he does not own of BT …………… the higher the share price waxes until then the higher the premium he must offer - bless him.
