Yep Dessy - dividend day will allow us reinvestment people to benefit from the dip in SP.
I buy in my ISA dividends -n then sell from my non ISA’d shares (when the price recovers at some point before April 4th). If I have to wait until New Year at least I will get division on them from the half year results.
The lack of output from the CWU on www.cwu.org suggests that as intimated here during the week the mass exodus was not as big as hoped.
I wrote about the effectiveness of this all out strike earlier in the week and no-one came up with any alternatives.
Having wracked my remaining brain cells the only solution I can think of is an Overtime Ban.
During my 37 years with BT / OR the company was quite dependent on OT . Banning OT will soon be more effective especially when the high fault rate season is upon us.
This will ensure the workers do not lose any salary and still benefit from the £1500 rise .
Any sensible discussion on this welcomed.

…. Has anyone noticed?
The only effect so far is the loss of pay the poor strikers have suffered.
Is there a better way for them before they have used up all their £1500 pay rise ??
To celebrate the Queens Platinum Jubilee we had a two day Bank Holiday.
The Union are now encouraging staff to repeat this process for the third time but like the first repeat again without pay.
Apart from a few ‘photo opportunities’ did anyone notice the BT strike - or will they ??
BT is just saving on Payroll.
The employees have been given a £1500 pay rise - if they were successful in getting more the difference they are striking for is minimal -and remember they will already have lost four days pay…………..
This from the FT clarifies the situation as best as we are going to get ??

Now that the review has finished, and no remedies were taken, it is possible Drahi will seek to increase his stake again, though this could trigger another assessment. Altice declined to comment.
No action will be taken on the increased stake to 18% ……. But what beyond that ?
Is the door open or simply not shut ??
Noticed a 3 million purchase at £1.65 after 16:30 - nice !
A series of strikes and the effect on the pay packet will see more and more employees not striking and realising they have had a £1500 pay rise and the bleak winter is approaching.
In my opinion only.
In a few short weeks we should hopefully see the findings of the review into Mr Drahi’s purchases.
What do you think the outcome will be - and how do you think that this outcome will affect the share price in the immediate and in 12 month times.
Buy into my ISA BT holding - cash for those not in ISA ……. abject.
So the two day strike (with a two day overtime opportunity in the middle) has been and gone.
It was not 100% - it failed to get much media reports aside from some Labour MP’s joining the picket lines for I presume just a photo opportunity.
The next ones will I feel attract even less support and will drag on and on likewise.
The strikers got a £1500 payrisem-m they are simply handing it back one days pay at a time.
An all out strike - an overtime ban - may change things but this drip feed approach is going nowhere - in my opinion.
Has any of our readers or correspondents seen any commentary on how the Friday Strike action was supported and if it had any effect.
How many staff went in on overtime Saturday and or Sunday.
How many moved scheduled days off
How many enjoyed an additional if unpaid Easter Weekend off.
Just wondering?
£4.40 a month
9P drop at the open - XD next week - will the closing price have made getting up early worthwhile ?????
Yes PanamaPete - remember they already have the £1500 pa in their pay packets.
If Bt Withdrew this to give the desired across the board percentages payment could the lowest paid face a reduction on this - or if everyone got the same find themselves striking for nothing?
Meanwhile the workers from home and contractors keep BT/OR running……
Well done Abject - my next purchase will be reinvesting the dividend in my ISA in September …….
I worked for BT / OR for 37 years. I am a Labour Party Voter.
If I was working today I would not strike.
I was well paid - the overtime was optional and paid at a premium- I got free or discounted shares - I had a flexible working pattern ( a nine day fortnight) - I got paid holidays - bank holidays off - I was fully trained - my tools and uniform was provided - I garaged at home - I worked a 36 hour week - I got sick pay - I got free broadband and BT sport. I was in a decent pension scheme - I was able to retire early.
When I started I got paid day release for four years to enable me to get an ONC on Electronics and a HNC in Computing at no expense to myself - I got paid leave when my five children were born - compassionate leave when my parents died. I was looked after.
A pay rise has been given which I would have been satisfied with even though the percentage for lower grades was more.
You can kill the Golden Goose.
I do not consider the claims of a food bank to be accurate and the ladies who set up the facility have been reported as being hurt and insulted.
BT/OR strikers are about to lose 2 days pay.
Non strikers - non union members and contractors are not.
Will the strikers be clambering to work overtime at 1.5 rate on the intervening Saturday?
The staff have been given a £1500 per head pay rise ?
Are the saying C3 and D1 grades actually need more at these difficult times than the CA’s who got the same rise?
BT and OR staff are well paid - have good holidays excellent working conditions company perks .
If they are not satisfied resign and work elsewhere for less money and much worse conditions ………. Thought not.
With a strike date about to be announced - remember BT & OR are not closed shops and many members lapsed over the years when membership dues went from payroll to DD. Some new recruits are not interested in Unions either.
There is also the question of Contractors who are very visible in my area of the Country.
A very interesting game of Poker is in play.
I do not think Mr Drahi would buy 18-% of BT and supposedly got DT ready join him or swap their 12% for nothing?
The DTI report or extension should be announced tomorrow - GLA
