And you might have added, Parky, that apart from a few ground-nesting birds such as larks and managed grouse not much nests on the moors. Also, being windswept, there are no big high flying insects up there either, so nothing for the bats.
There's nothing wrong with a mixed energy generation capability - clean coal, CMM, solar (my PV panels are doing great this year!), gas, wind - bring 'em all on and let's reduce our dependency on the imported stuff.
