The value of oil in the ground is a fraction of the value of oil being extracted, always has been. There is no infrastructure to remove the oil 88e have on the North slopes, despite the relatively close proximity of some major pipelines. To get this position will take significant investment that 88e don't have. They have never to my knowledge committed to being an oil producer on the North slope, the plan was to prove up the resource tie a bow on it and invite the big players to buy. Merlin 2 is the next step to proving up resource. Why the need for another drill? because they have previously opened a data room and no one was interested. When the prize gets big enough and attractive enough then 88e will be taken out, ultimately this is what we are waiting for.

This argument has been knocking around for years, it had no impact then and still has no impact. The big oil companies are not suddenly going to buy up minnows like 88e based on events in Ukraine. This conflict will be done in a month and normality will return to the big oil big money sector in eastern Europe.

Well it sets a precedent, and they can argue that if one council can allow it why can't others. But again it will be voted on by individual jurisdictions. If they lose the vote they can take it to a higher court and argue that its been allowed in other areas of the UK as a justification for the go ahead in the Midlands. But still waiting on official conformation that the block has been awarded to UPL.

Can't see any reason why this has ticked down 7%, no news no unusual volumn and still nothing from the italian government regarding any ammendments to their knee jerk ban on all drilling within 5km. Even though MOG have all ready drilled Ombrina mare, i think as stated by the italian government that companies will need to meet stringent enviromental impact assesment before they get the go ahead. Hopefully that is what is happening now and once complete MOG can develope Ombrina Mare. If that happens then this sp will shoot up, maybe even spike 60p before settleing back to its 40-50p range.

I would expect this to rise back into the 30's and i think the news from the italian government on the restrictions will be no where near as bad as their knee jerk reaction press release 2 weeks ago. With current resources and further projects this share is way under valued.

These guys are still looking for investers to help with battersea redevelpment, and they still have not got approval form the majors office yet having two applications rejected. They will find out in sept about the latest one. There was also talk of seperating the battersea project from the rest of the companies projects and running it stand alone, which is concerning. This was meant to be their stand out project if they now want reduce exposure to the rest of the portfolio what does that say about their faith in battersea? Have jumped back in this one, i think the outcome will be positive for licenses all ready in place and drills that have been pre approved. They may be able to restrict further development of the area but i think there will be enough pressure on them to allow onn going operations. These guys have good reserves all ready and good future prospects, once this panic action by the government settles down we could easily see this back to 40p, remember directors made substantial buys at 140p and brookers have given this a target of 150p in the past. Worth a punt at this level but dyor..
