Anyone know what sent the SP up this moring? I trawled the net but could not find any 'good news'.

Was surprised to see this board lit up light a Xmas when I looked, all down the Seychelles deal not completing. Don't think this amounts to much in itself but may suggest a TO of the rest of the company some time in the future may not be easy. The Caribbean operation is just as diverse as Monaco and Islands.

I sent an email question to the panel at today's Interim Results presentation and although my question was not read out during the webcast, Tony Rice graciously sent me a personal reply a few hours later. In his reply he infers that he may not be entirely 'out of company management' and so I for one will watch with interest to see if he secures a role elsewhere. The task of rejuvenating the CWC half of the old Cable & Wireless must have been difficult. Of course, the incumbent Chairman, Sir Richard Lapthorne, is now past 70 and Tony could be being lined up for that role. He would certainly get my vote!

Tony Rice just announced he will not be selling ANY of his shares in the immediate future and intends to remain CWC's largest private shareholder. That's gotta be good news.

Hi, from my perspective CWC will become a likely takeover target sometime next year or in 2015 once it has completed establishing its new corporate HQ in Miami and revenues start returning to or exceeding previous levels. In the past 12 months have of the group has been sold off effectively leaving the company debt free, although I suspect it will retain a moderate level of debt to fund investments in 4G networks and secure new spectrum capacity as per the recent Panama deal. It is suggested by the company that there is great scope to increase revenues based on new data services due there only being low levels of data users in the pan-Caribbean region at the moment. The recent structural changes to the company have been led by Tony Rice who is well respected by institutions and his personal holding of over 20 million shares gives us small investors a lot of confidence in him too. His recently announced departure was therefore a bit of a concern and there was a small dip in the SP. However, it is fairly understandable why he wants to leave, he is over sixty and does not want to relocate to Miami, and his replacement in Phil Bentley looks promising. CWC are operating in stable Caribbean countries and pay a sustainable 6% dividend so to me with a potential 25% takeover premium are a good share to hold. Hope this helps.

Hi Barlew. I think a TO at some point is inevitable, just hope the business/SP improves before then so unlike CWW the company is not sold on the cheap. I was initially unsettled by the news of Tony Rice leaving, I have watched him through many of his webcasts and he I stills confidence as does his personal holding of CWC shares. After doing a bit of research on Phil Bentley it's pretty obvious he is a man with a point to prove, i,e, he can perform as a CEO. He has probably done a lot of research into CWC himself and would note take on a company where he had a good chance of making significant improvements and thereby set himself up for a CEO position in the 'big league' he is used to. Consolidation in the mobile sector is a given now and if CWC starts to delivered the promised mobile data based growth would nicely fit in with all 3 of the big US carriers given the proximity to their 'home turf' and dependency on US tourists of some of CWC's turnover.

Time will tell. I had some satisfaction in the fact that Tony Rice had such a large personal exposure to CWC with his many millions of shares. Us shareholders are now facing a time of some uncertainty and I think the SP is refelcecting this with today's decrease. I suspect it will drop further tomorrow. No matter how good Phil Bently has been elsewhere, that is no guarantee for what he will do at this company. The November interims are of even more importance now.

GS has recently upgraded their SP for CWC, perhaps they suspect some good news when the interims are announced on November 7th. From my perspective I think we will have to wait for next year before we see significant movement on the SP but with a nice divident I'm not worried about that.

Nice to see Deutsche Bank renew their 57pence rating. With all the reorganisation going on news out of the company is pretty sparse at the moment but I reckon Q1 next year will be interesting. Between now and then all we know we have to look forward to is the interim results in November. Hi, any chance you can share with us the source of the information that leads you to "understand at least 2 companies are quietly looking them over"? I regularly search resources for CWC related info and often fine some obscure stuff in the Caribean press and on technical websited but I am yet to read about anyone who is yet actviely or quietly looking at CWC. BT are going to do serious harm to this company and the share price will suffer until Vodafone comes along and buys TalkTalk out in order to make Vod a 'Quad Play' operation in the UK. SELL NOW and buy back in mid 2014.

Hi Barlew, the Press Release regarding the Columbus tie up stated that initially this would be a marketing and sales joint venture but subject to regulatory approval the cable asstes of both companies would then be combined in a single business with CWW having an approximate 25% stake. I think CWW see this as both a way of assuring access to extra cable capacity to support data growth in the region and to save their capital for investments elsewhere. The IMS reported that NET DEBT was down to 263M Dollars but on the conference call earlier the CFO stated that they are still carrying the two large loans although there is an option to pay one of these off next February, which he inferred they would do. CWC provides me with good dividends and I belive there is little risk to the stock. On top of that if management succeeed in thier restructure and secure business effciencies I do think that next year it will become an attractive assett for some of the larger North and Central american operators. (Patience is the key here.)

Hi Barlew, I was on that call also and whilst Monaco is not an issue for me, it is a profitable and very self-contained operation, I would not like to see CWC go into the Dominican Republic. That would be too big for CWC to swallow (alone) and Orange want out for good reason. The Government there are applying punitive taxes on the Telcos and the whole country is somewhat 'lawless'. Verizon got out of the country years ago. As I said previously, we won't see the SP move until the re-organisation has delivered sometime next year.

Can anyone explain the two recent RNS announcements regarding blackrock's holding for me. It seems that they may have off loaded 40 million + shares. Is that the case and if so why, I wonder, and how do you sell so many without it being reflected in the sp? .

It is obvious from the annual report that the next 12 months or so will involve much upheaval for the company in establishing its new operations base in Florida. Until then we won't see the projected bottom line savings and revenues aren't lkely to shoot up in the short term. I don't think we will therefore see much movement in the SP until this time next year when I suspect CWC we have become more of an aquisition target for one of the large central or north amercian operators.

The sp increase suggests to me that next week's results are going to be good.

Stay Calm and Don't Panic - The big developments like selling off the Macau and M&I divisions are currently being implemented and as far as I can tell both will be completed by the end of the summer. I would like to see the SP rise as much as you but we just have to let the situation mature now. Hopefuly the results next week will report both some growth in Central America as well as a reduction in the operating costs there. If this is the case then we should see the SP creep up to the 50p mark where many analysts put it. (Oh and don't forget the divi!.)

Less than three weeks now to the results. These should identify a significant reduction in borrowing following the proceeds from the M&I disposal yet hopefully, no reduction in the divi going forward.
