This is a really interesting debate.
I think mechanisation of the farming industry means the resulting job losses were it to be transferred to CellAg would be made up by the new re-forestation jobs/ jobs in the Cell Ag industry itself ? (over emphasis of the fishing industry with Brexit may suggest this is an avenue open to exploit however incoherent the argument may be)
Is there political will to drop farming subsidies to force this move away - farmers/ land-owners vote blue ?
I think it is patently clear the time to act on all emissions is now - I am currently reading a very interesting and equally bleak book called the uninhabitable planet which makes this case very clearly.
For me the key problem/ question for CellAg is whether emitting lots of methane is better than emitting a bit of CO2 ... short term probably yes, longer term probably no !
