Interesting.
For those lazy/computer illiterate.....
From the 5p level on the day of the AGM on 25th November 2020 , the CAP-XX shareprice hit a high of 14.25p after Christmas , and , in the subsequent hangover , has now settled back just below the 10p level . In this period nearly 175m shares have traded , 38% of CAP-XX's issued capital , and the sharp rise in shareprice has tempted two of the shareholders that arrived during the £3.3m fundraising at 3p per share in December , 2019 to do some selling . Ruffer announced that its holding had fallen below 5% from 6.8% on 29th December , and David Newlands announced that his holding had fallen below 3% from 5.7% on 5th January . Given the issued capital of 456m shares , this implies total selling of over 20m shares .
Given AIM market disclosure rules for 3% shareholdings and above , Ruffer has made no further announcements , so appears to have stopped selling . Given David Newlands no longer has to disclose movements in his holding below 3% , and that volume in CAP-XX shares since 5th January has remained elevated at 39.5m shares , it seems quite likely that he has continued selling . His holding at 5th January was 13.5m shares , therefore it would also seem likely that his selling might now be all but done and dusted ? No new stakes or increased stakes in CAP-XX have been announced , as yet .
Last week CAP-XX posted trade news on its website for the first time in five months . Significantly , it posted that it had launched full-scale production and shipments of the thin prismatic Murata supercaps following successful installation and commissioning of the former Murata state-of-the-art production lines in Sydney . Quite what level of full nameplate capacity this implies at this time is for us to guess and CAP-XX to know , but it is a hugely encouraging event .
At the time of the acquisition of Murata's plant , we were told that Murata's supercap sales were A$13m pa ( 4m units ) and that total capacity of the plant was 6.7m units , which , according to Allenby , the CAP-XX house broker , using an indicative selling price of A$3.40 per unit , inferred A$22.8m of full revenue potential at 60% gross margins . However , after full year results on 3rd November , CAP-XX upgraded the plant's capacity to 7.2m units at A$3.4 per unit , equating to A$24m of potential revenue . By comparison , total sales for CAP-XX in the year to end June 2020 were just A$3.6m .
We also know that the CAP-XX order book is thriving . In the trading update of 10th September , 2020 , CAP-XX declared that trading since year end had been strong , and that the total sales order book was over 50% up on a year ago . This was reiterated again with the results on 3rd November , to which CAP-XX added " while full production capacity ( at the X-Murata plant ) is not expected to be reached immediately , the aggregate level of enquiries from pre-existing Murata customers and new customers , some of which are more advanced than others , EXC

“ CAP-XX should also be eligible for increased R&D rebates as a result of the acquisition (c. A$2.0m p.a.), as well as a one-off incentive (c. A$2.2m) and we would expect some lease incentives from the company’s new landlord (c. A$0.3m). The additional funds (A$1.9m/£1.0m) will be used for general working capital and the increased operating cost base required for the expanded manufacturing operations.”
No not at all, companies often do this to give to staff as share options rather than dilute the company shares. Certainly an option for Cap-xx.
A decent conversation to start the New Year Open, I’m off to buy a chufty badge.
Whoop whoop, now pay up and stop breaking the law ;)
