Referring to my earlier ML posts I find the following extraction from last years Annual Report (Page 13) interesting which opens up the whole debate as to what happens next.
'Whilst not legally necessary, the Board believed the data from these workstreams would be required in early 2020 given that this was always a condition of the draft licence. With the completion of all the work and collation of the latest data, there will now be substantial protection against any challenge that may be posed in relation to historic data. In addition, a public consultation has been agreed to share the new data that has been gathered throughout 2019. The new data shows no adverse effects and demonstrates an improvement in some areas. As a result of these efforts we believe a full marine licence incorporating an updated abstraction and discharge licence will be awarded in 2020.'

Great post dawski37 - we should remain positive even though I believe the ML will not be resolved at best until Qtr 4. The ship building part of the Company spreads our bets & accounts for at worse 50% of the SP. It is now more than 3 weeks since the ML update so hopefully soon but not complete resolution.I wonder if the original plan for the lower number of caverns would have been less controversial.Onwards & upwards.

Thanks Tango1 - I think the point is that both will be 'reviewed in 2020' on that basis are not final.Time will tell.Thanks.

I believe the date of July 2014 was for a 'Draft Marine License' only.
'On 22nd October 2012 Islandmagee Storage Limited submitted an application for a Marine Licence. The application included details of the associated marine infrastructure to enable seawater abstraction and the subsequent discharge of brine required for the creation of the caverns by solution mining and the creation of the caverns. On the 10th of July 2014, a Draft Marine Licence was issued to the Islandmagee Storage Ltd for discussion, by the Department of the Environment, Marine Division (ML 28_12) with pre-construction conditions.'

Additional question - When were the other licenses etc granted?

However, Islandmagee Energy will be applying for a discharge Licence for Brine Disposal
If Yes, please indicate:
Nature and quantity of material (sand, gravel, silt, clay, rock etc.) - No details given

Edit: However I hope only the ML is now required but why did we need to appoint lawyers?

Hi All - I noticed that there is a link to the various licenses that exist on the DAERA website & suggests that we require 2 licenses & 1 consent for Marine License, Water Abstraction License & Water Discharge consent so I think at best we will have all 3 by the end of this year.In addition I note that public participation is required for all three (possible).

I have just been watching the 'Liaison Committee' on the Parliament TV network which took place this afternoon & in response to questions raised by Tobias Ellwood Chairman of the Defence Select Committee Boris Johnson was very enthusiastic about future shipbuilding that will take place in order to satisfy the current requirements of the MOD.Boris was clearly very enthusiastic about what this could do for the MOD & I saw this as a sign that he saw this as something to boost the UK economy.Watch this space. (For those wishing to look it comes right at the end of the meeting).

Well done.
It is certainly busy at H&W & all appears to be in working order at H&W so bodes well for the future.
I am however not sure how quickly the ML will be resolved I suspect next quarter not this one.

Not wishing to bring politics onto this board but the House of Lords are very unlikely to pass the internal - market bill which will give rise to a constitutional crisis.The House of Lords cannot finally vote against Bills that relate to policies in the Government of the days manifesto & the irony that quite the reverse was in it in relation to the proposed market bill. Boris has gone to far as he once did last year & was found in the Supreme Court to have acted illegally when proroguing Parliament for the wrong reasons i.e. to try & gain political advantage.There may be yet another Government U Turn.Deja Vu.

Detailed below is an abstract from the recent RNS in which we had various updates in which I note that 'within the next few weeks' takes us to this week.Hopefully we will not have a repeat of the EU Grant which went on for months:
Islandmagee Gas Storage Project Update
'The Company's position around licensing remains robust and the Company sees no reason why a marine license will not be issued in due course and that no additional consultations are needed to refresh other licenses. With that in mind, the Company has recently instructed Grant McBurney and Garry McGhee of Carson McDowell LLP to carry out an independent review. To ensure further transparency and to strengthen its legal position, they have further instructed leading barrister David Elvin QC from Lanmark Chambers to provide a legal opinion on aspects of the Marine Licence in order to mitigate against any further potential delays. The opinion returned has provided third-party assurance to the Company that there is no reason why the outstanding Marine License process cannot be completed without further delay. The Company continues to maintain dialogue with DAERA and remains optimistic that a recommendation for the issuance of the Marine Licence will be made within the next few weeks.'
