There are potentially massive markets for both the inboard and outboard motor and no doubt there will be follow on consumables market and spares.
The outboard looks pretty powerful and is lighter than my outboard by 13kg , it's very hard to assess without actually trying one in real world conditions but will likely be pretty good for day sailors and for those going on short fishing trips.
You also have the advantage of a sealed unit and fewer parts needing yearly attention such as the water coolant system where you can get gradual build up of lime etc.
The SED one is a closed circuit Glycol mix.
The key thing will be the pricing and how the extra cost is offset with the reduced cost of running and maintenance.
Currently, my marina gives free electric with the mooring fees but not sure if that would continue with an electric motor but of course there is the option of solar.
Interesting times and will follow this closely.
