Appointments add significant expertise to further advance Scancell's pipeline of cancer immunotherapies

Scancell Holdings plc, the developer of novel immunotherapies for the treatment of cancer, today announces the appointment of Dr Samantha Paston as Head of Research and Dr Adrian Parry as Head of Manufacturing. Dr Paston started in her role in mid-January and Dr Parry will start in his role on 01 February 2019.

Dr Samantha Paston joins Scancell from Immunocore where she has held several positions since June 2008 including Head of T Cell Cloning and Group Leader. While at Immunocore Samantha was responsible for the generation of the in house T cell cloning method and biological molecule discovery which made significant contributions to the current Immunocore oncology pipeline. Prior to this, Samantha held a number of positions at Medigene, Avidex, NIBSC and GSK. Samantha holds a PhD from University College London in Immunology/Haematology, following an BSc Honours Degree in Microbiology from the University of Sheffield. Based at the Company's corporate offices in Oxford, Samantha will report directly to Scancell's founder and Chief Scientific Officer, Professor Lindy Durrant who commented: "Samantha will be invaluable in immunological design of the upcoming trials and spearheading the new TCR therapeutics and I am very excited to add such an experienced scientist to the team."

Which if it has, has been going on for some time now, enter stage door our two new employees.

Scancell is developing novel immunotherapies for the treatment of cancer based on its ImmunoBody® and Moditope® technology platforms.



ImmunoBody® vaccines target dendritic cells and stimulate both parts of the cellular immune system. They can be used as monotherapy or in combination with checkpoint inhibitors. This platform has the potential to enhance tumour destruction, prevent disease recurrence and extend survival.

Grant of US patent that protects Modi-1, the first clinical candidate from its Moditope® immunotherapy platform



Additional grant of European patent for anti-glycan antibody



Scancell Holdings plc, the developer of novel immunotherapies for the treatment of cancer, today announces that the United States Patent Office has granted a US patent that provides protection for Modi-1, the first clinical candidate from Scancell's Moditope® immunotherapy platform.



US patent number 10,233,220, entitled Anti-tumour Response to Modified Self-epitopes was granted on 19 March 2019 and claims methods of stimulating an immune response to a tumour and methods of treating cancer using peptides of Modi-1. Additional claims that aim to protect other aspects of the Moditope® platform are being pursued in the US. Grant in the US follows grant of corresponding patents in Europe, as announced last year, South Africa and Australia, and acceptance for grant in China. Counterparts to these patents are being prosecuted in other territories of importance to Scancell.



The Company also today announces the grant of European patent number 3,063,160 relating to FG88 a monoclonal antibody directed to tumour associated glycans, further strengthening the commercial positioning of Scancell's monoclonal antibody development programme.

Surprised at your comments to a poster as i was with your animated responses over the weekend. I posted the reply in full, as i said in an earlier post......................................

But, a very important grant, certainly adds value to the IP, and makes a deal IMHO all the more possible. I specifically didn"t post my e-mail to CH, his reply, was unusually short avoiding comment of any kind, take that as you will, but unlike him for sure.

As for THAT e-mail from Lindy???? Well i would have bet my life on that. Isn"t it amazing when the supposed Team Ramp do everything they can to stop baseless ramps??? Something doesn"t add up. Night guys feeling adrenalin running again, nice feel about the BB and ultimely the share. Just MO.

No need to debate this further, many posters made their feelings known, I thank TF for his, and as they say we move on. The matter is in Scancells hands, they have the posts, which site it was posted on, and falsely impersonating an Officer of the Company, by way of doing so intentionally to boost the SP is the only issue under debate. This is not the first time you have chosen to side with a guilty party. There has been some furore over your ID for some time, I have chosen to largely ignore that as your contribution has been healthy, lets all concentrate on being the best we can rather than speculating, at the end of the day the Patent hadn"t been granted yet as i said to directingas earlier this morning.....................................

DG, I agree with you, but hard to remember any RNS that has moved us up at all, including Patent awards of past. Must be a good reason it is not RNSed, might just be a case of not receiving the grant in writing?

That indeed was the case.

I far prefer to look back to the point in time when Moditope was a serenditous discovery, seems a lifetime ago, the main thrust of my mail yesterday was to congratulate all at Scancell for their efforts in sorting out the Patent once and for all. As you can clearly see from CHs words the other issue only occurred later.

Lets enjoy the moment, rather than waste it.

Ah, KF, I do remember reading on here about that. Focus really is shifting with the experts dedicating their time in ensuring the most accurate results are achievable in an industry riding a wave.

Konar, did you get a chance to see where the Japanese and Chinese Moditope Patents are up to?? Certainly sounds like we will get an RNS in the morning about the U.S.A one.

Wildforce, thanks for that, interesting article. Not sure if you read my post after my last appt on 13th Feb with my oncologist, but he had been working on two Car-T trials at UCLH, which were suspended before Xmas and he and his team are working flat out on two diagnostic trials which they are hoping to implement end 2021. Sounds very similar, seeing him on 8th April will show him the article and share his comments. The interesting part of our discussion was that after years of research into treatments they are now embracing diagnostics/sequencing with the knowledge of the benefits as you say in delivering the right treatments to the right patients. Yet another thumbs up for the progress that Industry has made in cutting real costs, by less wastage and extending more lives than ever through early diagnosis and more accurate treatment plans.

From 16.58, (strange time) at 5.491. Looks like a sell, but not calling anything today, guess we will find out in the morning for sure.

Researcher, think we have discussed that subject enough really. I will see what Scancell have to say.

As for trades, Volume is 481k, all trades bar one are at 5.5 so impossible to call. The SP is level, and MMs began taking 5k at 5.5, now will take 15k at 15.505.

As for beleiving there is a deal coming our way, good to see a few people sharing that belief. These trades are from NEX, the bigger one being a Bed & ISA I guess...........................

Either way i have just sent a pretty concise e-mail to CH, about the Patent, SCIB 1 IND, updates of any kind on SCIB 2, and suggesting perhaps we are waiting for more important inflection based news to come very soon.

Couldn"t help sending him my best regards ( I genuinly like him), and hoping he has not been suffering the same abuse as a few of us on LSE, whilst remaining positive. Will share what i can of any reply, but it wont be verbatim, we do exchange a fair few messages, and i want to keep his replys private, whilst assuring anyody there is never anything price sensitive in them.
