I was thinking something similar. Is this a way for a certain institutional investor to safeguard their investment from the risk of Zambia?

Perhaps there's been an escalation of negative posts because the company hasn't demonstrated an ability to deliver on previous promises and is now selling it's only profitable assets to pursue Zambia, which has (so far at least) been a disaster?

Unfortunately, the building behind the Estate Agent's sign is fully ablaze and the seller's desperation is clearly visible.

It makes me wonder if Leon had been using cashflow as an excuse for the repeated failures and now Slater is pulling the plug - 'No more excuses. No more debt. No more dilutions. Deliver in Zambia or we're out.'

q: what can you tell me about a share that's lost 90% if it's value?

a: first it lost 80% of it's value, then it halved again.

as multiple people have posted, the risk profile for this share has just massively increased. there's no longer going to be a backstop to cover day-to-day expenses and leon is being the farm on the zambia operation that's, at best, massively behind schedule and, at worst, a complete cluster****.

maybe it will all work out brilliantly, but we're up 35% since earlier this year despite being in arguably a much worse position.

i'm holding for now, but i'm certainly not buying more at this price.

I previously held SLP. They were my best performing share, but I held for too long and sold at cost price. I did make a fair amount in dividends, though.

I'm mainly in passive funds these days, but I'm still sitting on some crappy shares such as JLP. I'm more than 80% down on my initial investment and there seems little point in selling my remaining shares.

I've been toying with trying to trade my way out of the losses, but with Leon running things, there always seems to be the potential for a much, much lower share price...

$6m profit on a total revenue of $205 million is **** all.

Right, so the company currently has pretty much zero profit.

Chrome appears to be the only thing covering the bills.

They're raising up to $90 million from the sale.

Without the chrome revenue, how are they going to cover day-to-day costs, let alone invest in copper?

Copper prices plunge amid recession fears

The price of traded copper has fallen at the fastest pace in nearly three years amid concerns that world economy is heading for a recession.

The metal – which is a vital component for energy storage, electric vehicles, solar panels and wind turbines – tumbled more than 5pc in the steepest drop since July 2022.

David Oxley, commodities economist at Capital Economics, said: “All told, while commodities were not the focus of President Trump’s liberation day salvo, they could still be affected depending on how countries negotiate and retaliate, and the broader impact on global GDP growth.

He added: “The downside risks to global activity and trade fit with our already-bearish forecasts for most commodity prices over the coming years.”

It seems like very convenient timing and, as Gray1 pointed out, their track record is abysmal.

My SIPP is currently in limbo due to an in speccie transfer, so I can't trade...

I'm roughly 85% down on my £10k investment, so yes I am a bit down on this company.

If Slater Ltd reduce their holdings further, then I think I probably sell out.
