First time poster on this share, fortunately just dipped my toe in here...So any loss, is insignificant on my overall portfolio. I am therefore happy to leave this for the long term. I read the posts everynight, lots of really positive comments, then watch the share price fall ... Not sure how many on here are rampers .. but some concern should be shared, as this share price continues to fall... far more then other similar companies. Is there anyone else on here that shares this concern ?
Be good to hear your thoughts... as I am not quite sure why on bad brexit news, this share drops... people are still going to use electricity. As for the other side of the pond, if pounds falls, value of company should be higher.. as a defensive share, this is awful. Just glad I didn't invest in Interserve or Carrilion !!
Negotiating Brexit is quite conflicting, but I have two thoughts and would be interested in your views. First, if we leave with no deal, what happens then regarding NI border, as the EU,UK and ROI and NI have said they do not want a border. I believe the most sensible solution is to negotiate the issues that led to a vote of Brexit, if we were able to have better controls of immigration and review other issues it would then be sensible to have another referendum with a greater chance to remain and for the people in the country to feel heard. Just my opinion, your thoughts.
Any advice out there, I am with IG.. the variance on stock price on open market to bid offer price on IG appears quite high. If your with IG do you find that, if not would you recommend your platform to trade on ?? Any help is appreciated.
5) Brexit * not (Need it) annoying predictive text !!
Global stock markets have hit their lowest levels since February this year. The UK has hit a six month low and Asian stocks are suffering similar to U.S stocks, primarily due to recent rise on yields on U.S treasury bonds which have climbed to a seven year high (above 3%). However, some fund managers remain optimistic about the long term future of equities and are treating today as a 'buy' opportunity. This is because they believe the markets are over- reacting. 1) latest U.S earnings is looking positive. 2) U.S consumer confidence is high. 3) The NAFTA has been replaced with USMCA, which in principle is basically the same. 4) U.S trade war with China is continuing but not deteriorating. 5) Need it is likely to have a deal, which will have a positive impact to sterling. Interesting view, thought I would share with other PI's
Amazing day !!
Thanks Spendapenny !! Hit £56 today.. hopefully £60 soon. Be nice to be in profit. Should have topped up at £46.. hindsight hey!
Great to see the share price rising !! Also good to know acquisition is scheduled for Q1 2019. As it allows PI's to choose to remain or leave. This is a dumb question.. but when I viewed Barrick shares on my Webull app, they are listed at 11.69 although I appreciate that this is $$ that price is pence?? As in 0.1169 p if it corresponds as other shares such as National Grid listed at 775, which equates to £7.75 per share. Can anyone she'd any light on this?? I'm guessing it is $11.69, otherwise it is not a great deal.
I research indicates 1%...
Thanks beatrootjuice, fingers crossed.. hopefully divis improve too.
I am completely confused, so any guidance would be appreciated. My buy in was £57.32.. So currently running at a loss. Unlike Comcast buying Sky, I can't see a price here for a takeover... Any advice on whether I should sell now or hold ?
I appreciate that leaving the EU could be disadvantageous... but my personal view is that I would rather a UK government that is elected by UK voters makes decisions than politicians in the EU. Their behaviour and derogatory comments convince me that the decision to leave is right. It is just a shame that in house squabbling for power in government appears to take precedent over a united goal for what maybe a strategy to obtain a good deal. Surely everyone must understand that in a negotiation you have to be able to walk away for the opposition to enhance their offer. Currently in my opinion, the EU is controlling the negotiation and in the event the UK don't agree to a significant divorce Bill, EU citixen rights and NI border they are hoping to take a slice of the UK financial industry. Now, I voted to remain, but accept a democratic vote. I believe everyone should get behind this for it to be successful, or we all pay the price ...
Yes, the buyback is very frustrating.. HSBC share price increased when they did theirs.. I think it has to do with the books needing to balance at the end of every day... so if more people are buying the share prices increases until holders sell and if holders are selling the price decreases to find buyers. This effectively is how the brokers balance the books. However, when a buyback is happening, the traders already know whatever shares are sold, will be bought back by company so demand is mitigated. Hey, I could be wrong, but that's what I think lol
With Brexit disrupting Europe, Missiles being fired from N.Korea and another natural disaster about to strike the USA.. Any ideas on where to minimise your downside risk, while maximising your potential upside ? Be good to hear other people's thoughts. As for me... I diversified into cryptocurrency... and Bitcoin is very interesting...and lucrative lol.
Can anyone provide an insight on why the share price continues to decline... I understand that they are buying back shares.. but this normally increases share price.. or it did with HSBC... but NG appears to be falling quicker than other shares.. even when you take Brexit into consideration. After ex Divi it was 10.61... but since it has dropped by about 70p...
