RE: shorts27 Nov 2018 17:37
Ronin, hey, next time you come over here and write/explain everything in my language, okay!? : D
"And if they had placed their short at higher levels then they only profit once they've closed their position."
Rest assure that those 6% shorters we saw this summer started shorting when this was 900, 800 and 700p. "Close their position and leave"?? This only takes seconds. After that, if the signal is worthwhile, they don't leave, but instantly open a new short position.
If its true that KAZ has "zero" shorts right now, I would expect a strong rebound from here. IMO institutionals are de-risking, because Trump & China could come up with some sudden agreement...
You wouldt want to be burned as a shorter :))
"Shorters often get burned."
Ronin, what you mean are private guys, who make only small number of shorters.
The main gamble is done by Barclays Capital, Goldman, JP & the club, and in the vast majority of the cases their software gets its right. I bet some of those guys stayed short all summer long from 900p down (while we were chewing nails and hoping), and now they seem to be closing their positions and cashing in.
Think about it, what are these guys doing all day. Its mostly just pattern recognition, statistics & algorithm, and many of these guys don't know / don't care what your share is all about, and still buy it:

If KAZ shows a valid upside breakout (551), we would see large numbers of investors alerted by and piling in.
