Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
12.38 Sailplane, thank you for a very interesting article.
I suppose the $64milion dollar question is in relation to the relative quantities of initial flow and the assumed longer term impact of longevity of flow. A significant decrease in the former with only a limited increase in the latter is going to reduce lifetime volumes, whereas if the opposite were true we would be looking at significant increases in expectations in the lifecycle of a well.
Do we have any evidence of the typically expected levels in sands at the tighter end of the porosity spectrum?
Seahawk,
Perhaps we just need to concentrate on the job in hand and hopefully some good results.
I agree with your points at 16.22. Was it an ill-advised aberration, was it a top slice to bank a little profit ahead of a lock-in? Who knows? Whichever, I agree that it doesn't instil a great deal of confidence.
Back to the job in hand...........
Blackadder,
Thank you.
Interesting that the new PM is talking of further North Sea gas development and use of fracking techniques here in the UK to exploit our natural resources. The anti-frac lobbyists in the UK appear to disagree with the points made in the video about non-contamination and the potential for fracking to trigger earth tremors/quakes. What are your thoughts?

Bat held high, applause and a standing ovation all around the ground. 102 not out overnight, nothing daft in the morning and the Brian Lara record of 501 not out must be an eventual target with many, many short to medium term targets along the way. I'd settle for a double hundred in the next few weeks.
It seems to me that people are trying to wind back the clock to examine factors which might have affected the process and outcomes, for no good reason (other than Machiavellian ones), when we already have a perfectly satisfactory outcome in oil flow figures.

For me Alkaid is the perfect testing ground both practically and in terms of cash flow and, ultimately, the door to value. It needs to go right though!!! Fewer time pressures and climatic considerations through the summer ought to make life easier (save for the midges) and the ability to test frack the zones intended to be targetted further west, on a larger scale, ought to aid R&D.

Telesail,
Many thanks for sharing the article.
It is interesting and vitally important that classification will rely not only on the physical existence and ability to physically extract, but also on the viability of extraction and proof of the ability to fund such extraction.
It makes sense for the regulatory authorities to require this ahead of the issue of Licences, but it places considerable onus for the explorer/oil company in order for them to be granted the 'ticket'.

Again, thanks for the technical viewpoint.
It'll be interesting to see if 88e take the advice and time out to do more technical due diligence. You can imagine the reaction of investors to a delay to prove up the data?
