Correction increased by 5p
On the last day of trading last year on the eve of ex dividend day the SP increased by 6.10p
Apr 20, 2022 272.80p 278.90p 271.70p 277.80p 16,824,498
That's not dividend hunters dumping the share. Although there will be some that sell, if they bought in at a lower price recently and figure the capitol gains out strip the divi, as the share usually drops on Ex divi day. I think it closed 13.9p lower at the end of ex divi day last year. Nothing is guaranteed to repeat as I have stated previously. If the wider market has a steller day on ex divi day..
I think we could get to 260p on Wenesday. Barring a negative tone for the wider Market..
Having a user name such as Mrcautious and then investing in a Aim company seems a little on the oxymoron side of things..
Or two days earlier depending how you look at things..
The company register record date is 1 day after ex divi date. Its records who's on the register ( shareholders) on the closing date before ex dividend date. Hence 2 days later..
The SP usually drops on ex divi dates and tends to drift lower for a period of time. If you time it right and are prepared to hold until next dividend you can capture capitol gains too. Some see this opportunity as a good entry point. On some occasions the SP can increase on ex divi date esp if the markets having a good day.. nothings guaranteed but that's in vesting for you...
Below shows Sp two days before ex divi date last year 2022 and two days after wards...

From the high @278..90. At close of market on the 20th April 2022 before ex divi date.. one day later EX DIVI date the SP opened at 265p a drop of 13.90p it dropped further the following day to..
All things being equal a similar outcome will occur on Thursday ex Divi date..
But as I have stated nothing in investing is guaranteed to repeat..
DYOR
Good luck whatever your statagie is!...
It's a little confusing still. But the use of next divi.. if you buy before the ex divi date you get the divi thats been announced. If you buy on ex divi date and hold until next ex divi date you get the next dividend yet to be announced... usually the share SP drops on ex divi date to reflect the total amount of all dividend payments that have been made.
Dividend Summary
The next Legal & General Group plc dividend will go ex in 5 days for 13.93p and will be paid in 1 month.
The previous Legal & General Group plc dividend was 5.44p and it went ex 8 months ago and it was paid 7 months ago.
There are typically 2 dividends per year (excluding specials), and the dividend cover is approximately 1.8.
The ex-dividend date for stocks is usually set one business day before the record date. If you purchase a stock on its ex-dividend date or after, you will not receive the next dividend payment. Instead, the seller gets the dividend. If you purchase before the ex-dividend date, you get the dividend.
Hope this helps
Vodafone is best company in the world
Happy now .. ffs noones allowed an opinion .. wallow in your own misery lover...
See you at 80p
I'm not invested in Vodaphone how many times do I have to tell you..
As things are I won't invest here at anything over 80p
Things could change but they are my thoughts...
Android101 did you research dividend coverage under 1?.
Wether you agree with my point of view is neither here or there to me. But you seem to have a blinkered approach when it comes to vodaphone...
Let's hope it don't materialise into blind faith...
Do I think the dividend will be cancelled no, that would be catastrophic to the SP can it be cancelled it's possible whilst it's possible. But hey ho let's just add more debt to the mountain of debt that's going to cost more to service going forward...
Happy days it seems to some invested here...
Any company that can not cover their dividend is in my opinion performing poorly...

And need pi's to sell. Cartune you dont post very often and been around since 2014 but turn up today worried about div cover?
Why would you state that I'm worried about the dividend. I clearly told you I'm out of vodaphone and I am waiting with cash to get back in at 80p. I wish every investor well. I'm just stating what I think. Is that not what everyone does on these boards...
Further more if the Divi is reduced or even cancelled which is possible. Think about it you make £80 and give out £100 how long is that sustainable for...
Perhaps you should search out dividend coverage under 1 and what it represents.
I'm not saying that things can't improve in the future, but right now Vodaphone is performing poorly to say the least!...
Also the dividend coverage is 0.8 anything below 1 is cause for concern. Vodaphone are currently borrowing money to pay a dividend. Which is adding to a mountain of debt. You don't have to be intelligent to understand that, that's unstainable especially in a higher rates environment.

What page 29 is not telling you is how many are leaving vodaphone for cheaper deals elsewhere. If Vodaphone was anywhere near to what your stating the SP would reflect that would you not think. I've been in and out of Vodaphone many times. But I stick by my earlier comments. I can and have been wrong on occasions. But when I ask myself at what price am I willing to jump back in to Vodsphone 80p is my target.
Banditos
As long as interest rates are rising Vodafone will struggle. If interest rates start to fall that could be a catalyst for the SP to move higher. Earning and Divi to be announced soon. Divi looks under pressure Imo nothings guaranteed. Recent hike in mobile plans won't be reflected in this seasons earning. I personally think this could go to 80p before it hits a £1. Holding cash waiting on 80p DYOR
It'll be nice to load up again at 3p. One thing with this share anything is possible... or is it the possible is impossible, probably the later.. thank god I'm on a beach in Alanya soaking up the early season sunshine.
Bannor I love the Spurs analogie. Spot on!....
Peace....
Kod are in bed with the Chinese. Chinese like total control. Ie BCN I expect this will be the case with Kod going forward. Hence I'm holding even after a 100% rise.
