Costs are bound to rise which might be a cause for management comment in the results on 15 April but the cruises don't go into danger areas and I expect they are now largely sold out. Overall I am optimistic medium term. Getting the debt down is a priority from memory.

I like your optimism but I remember the dot com bubble. People got jobs in new firms, giving up well paid,stable jobs in the City, dreaming of yachts. Boom went to bust.

Not saying this will happen here as it is a great business but I am more cautious in my old age, spreading risk.

Labour are stuck with their manifesto pledge there would be no more drilling in the North Sea. Just because a few keyboard warriors object to this approach (which I do by the way but then I've always voted and am a locally elected Lib Dem) I see the Greens are doing well in the polls and heaven knows what they would do to the North Sea. Pragmatism should be the rule.

I see your interesting point about being in a bubble and understand that. After all we have a direct interest, being in here but many are interested in the cost of living etc. I remind myself that at the last election someone came on here saying he knew nobody who was voting Labour. There's your bubble. People live in their own world, it's life.

Lytham S it would be good in any deal that AET retains a listing in some form, preferably on the LSE which is why I thought a reverse TO might work. It would also be good if they didn't keep us waiting too long. I noticed reference elsewhere to news hopefully around the results day in late April though I can't see a set date yet.

Question for me is where the share price could end up.

I had a look at the recent presentations. The pages are 'busy' as there's a lot in there to try work through and would certainly advise a look. there was net debt of $21m at year end since which time there has been a lifting of $31m at much lower oil prices. There's a lot to come this year if they stay on track. There will be significant costs, some of which are covered by the JV partner Sonangol, but there needs to be further funding needed to follow through on all the opportunities. These could be loans or a deal via the strategic review. Personally I would prefer they stay independent- the management team seem to me to be impressive and have the skills and experience to go it alone.

I am intrigued- you say he won't budge 'despite overwhelming public opinion'. Do you mean public opinion of oil company shareholders via message boards or do mean other public? I'd appreciate evidence.

Thank you for the article. It is encouraging that government is listening at least. They want growth and tax- our North Sea assets can deliver.

I think the results are poor. While I disagree with the language in here by a couple of posters the facts are that revenues are flat and profits are well down. I'd prefer to be a shareholder of a company moving forwards not sideways or back, and with a strategy to do that.

Despite that the market seems to like them so I await with interest broker comments later. At least the dividend is maintained.
