"Canadian company First Quantum Minerals (FQM) has offered to acquire the remaining 20% stake owned by the Zambian Government in the Kansanshi copper mine.

Bloomberg quoted two people with knowledge of the transaction saying that the company is offering as much as $700m for the stake acquisition."

Copper price was far lower at this juncture with also the projections for the year or 2 ahead copper could go on a huge storming run... all worth takiong into account.

I would say your 20p eqv is minimum that ARC would sell for.

Wasn't their a mine fairly close by that sold for $7b dollars back in the 00's ??

Major I agree anything else would undoubtidly be rejected so north of 20p.

Anglo, given they have been conducting DD for 6 months, looking at all the data etc will be well aware of the potential.. clearly they are keen given they have just initiated negotiations after the 6 month DD process.

Could blow all predictions out of the water if they believe there is enough reason to think what ARCM have is a Teir 1 mine... they will be far more savvy looking over the data than us lot.

Defo think this will sit in the low teens before any deal is announced.

How high this sits pre any deal will be a good indication of what the market thinks any deal will be worth... always someone in the know.

If it pushes up to 12/15p pre news I would be expecting a very decent deal.

20-30p 'minimum' target area on a deal...

Anglo American have been conducting DD for the last 6 months on the area and have now confirmed their want to proceed with negotiations... the last mine (which wasn't as good) in the area was sold in early stages for around $200m, it's now one of the biggest copper mines in the world...

ARCM's mine is by all accounts better and has the hallmarks of a Teir one... $200m is around 20p in todays money.... personally think it will be sold for upwards of $300m (possibly twice as much) given such a bullish nature for miners at present.

Well worth loading up as and when free funds allow... would imagine will move up to 10p over the next few weeks while the market awaits the news on sale.

david - Agree, could be a few weeks before the market hears what's is proposed.

Also Anglo will know the size of the potential without all of the drilling being confirmed by looking at the data, open ended etc etc ... they will have a far better grasp then us mear mortals staring at a screen.

Imv given Anglo have spent 6 months looking at the data, visiting the site and have now concluded they want to enter into negotiations... they are 1. obviously very keen and 2. should find out in the next 4/6 weeks on the terms proposed / what they would like to table.
