Viewing it at a psychological perspective gives one a good grasp of the overall demand and direction.

Eg: if a stock drops through a days opening & then closes over the open price, this tells you that there is more interest in the share at end of the day than the beginning, it has tested lower & got rejected & is confirmation that it is unlikely to drop lower over the next few days trading (or until something fundamentally changes).

Again. Close prices are the more important as it takes bigger *******s to hold over night than intra day etc etc

Regarding here… that long term 3/4 year trend being broken says that there is now more interest in the company to see it push through the point that would have previously seen sellers… something has fundamentally changed to cause this imv.

A sudden surge in interest, either buying or selling…

The best way to look at a chart is from a psychological perspective… each bar represents lots of people either buying and selling … a gap (up or down) is a jump or drop in price due to a sudden surge of interest or lack there of.

From a psychological perspective & reason that people trade gaps is because how do people know if a stock should be at a certain level (or not) if the stock hasn’t yet traded the price and it jumped (or dropped) over it ??

Hence, gaps get filled / tested and confirm direction.

That’s the whole point mate. For example a gap on a chart is blazingly obvious , so the more people that see it, the more people who act on it, the more likely it is to mean something.

Also - insti’s and brokers use charts for their entries and exits that’s big money inflow and outflow based on a chart.

They carry far more weight than the average pi realises.

On the other hand update this morning was way above expectations and it’s hardly surprising to see many happy to buy where others are selling.
