@Rajbury I think you are right. This is not the last pandemic we will have.

Not wanting to take away from the pain and suffering of those who have been ill or lost loved ones, but we really have dodged a bullet. Sars & Mers both much more lethal than covid. Only pure luck that we have not been hit with something much worse this time round.

The other thing to note is the Govt Integrated review that sees increased risk of chemical or biological terror attack. It makes sense to harden our defenses against both natural and man-made pathogens because the risk will always be there and it is better to be prepared with everything at our disposal.

Interesting questions @spinnaker; It would be good to get more info on exactly how the mask works and the properties of the antiviral material. eg can it be washed?

Obviously the mask is not supposed to be washed, but the question remains pertinent for the other possible applications of the material we may wish to target.

Whilst I know we use copper nano particles I am unsure at present if these are particles of the elemental copper or of copper oxide. But it would appear from this article that copper oxide has antiviral activity, so either way I would not expect that oxidation in air would inactivate the antiviral in the mask(but what do I know).

I don't think there is much incentive to test the mask past 7hours sine we want them to need to buy another.

I hope they are testing the nano-material though so we know it's properties for other applications. A key thing is though if they wanted to prove a long timespan like 6 months it would take at least 6 months from when they start testing to get results.
