When has the stock market ever behaved the way you think it will ? Bt is still running a profitable business even in these times but the sp still tanks. Weatherspoons doesn't have a business anymore and sp is still 8 quid plus. No planes are flying and yet their sp while well down isn't at bt s level. I don't know what it will take for the big boys to take their foot off bt s throat but if the covid situation doesn't do it nothing will.
As far as the day to day business is concerned I would say BT is largely unaffected. However long term income for the pension scheme is going to be hit fairly hard and BT will have to shore it up to some extent as the schemes liabilities are still there.
Hs2 seems to have taken the place of brexit in the media . Boris appears to want to move people around rather than data at the moment. However I think he will soon be looking the bb situation and it is going to be a watershed moment for bt. Just hope it goes our way.
The Americans are just a joke . It's obvious they want us to join them in a trade war with China. I've just bought a pair of earbuds made in China which are a brilliant piece of Bluetooth tech for 20 quid . Apple who also make a similar product want 250 plus for the same thing . It says it all really. Bt s infrastructure is rammed with huawei kit and has been for 20 years. If there was a real threat of any kind of war the internet would be downed immediately probably by our own government so what are we worrying about. Glad Boris has got it right.
As the virgin network grows will BT be able to use their network to provide faster bb. Source for the goose etc. Tricky one for Ofcom but I would expect the answer would be no as virgin will have assurances that it cannot happen otherwise their investment would dry up. How long before they become the dominant player with all the regulation that comes with that dubious honour.
I think you will find that Ofcom run by the government are actually in the pockets of the capitalist that run the olo s talk talk sky etc. They have no infrastructure and simply milk bt with Ofcom and the governments backing which has meant poor fibre roll out and less investment. Privatisation of bt has failed after 30 odd years and needs a reboot.

Virgin just bury their fibre and coax no duct unless a road crossing involved. Can't see how their investment is going to pay off given 5g and 100g of data for 30 quid. BB is going to be the DVD of the telecoms industry . It will still be around but not necessarily the first choice even with the high speeds of fibre. Most people don't need that kind of speed.
Seem to remember Joe garner trying to move everybody about with a view to closing multiple offices. That was 2014 ish . It didn't work then but I may do now . Difficult to understand the why the sp is low given the size if the divi. Must be the BREXIT effect.
Faulty you are right about the leeches but dominance of the bb market is under threat from virgin. They are currently installing their quite small grey cabinets in my area and trenching in the fibres rather than using bt ducts. If this is going on in suburbia then they must be a serious threat. I currently get 56mb from plus net so not bothered about fibre speeds at greater cost but some might be
I did say a while ago that mobile is the way forward and broadband will in time become the DVD of the coms business. Fttp not required and too expensive landline redundant. Good job we bought EE.
No need to worry about Openreach being sold . Who would buy it with Ofcom kicking it around . Not worth the hassle. Only way Openreach will thrive is if the government call their dog off which I can't see happening any time soon .
Ofcom will not allow BT to succeed in anyway so Jansen has picked up a poisoned chalice. However I think he knows it and is just along for the ride. It's a bit like managing a failing football club. You know you will get the bullet eventually but it will come with a nice payoff.
