I wonder if anyone will ever write a piece on BT without referring to as "the former state monopoly". It's going on for 40 years now and it gets a bit tedious especially when the water companies have a private monopoly and not a word said. The power sector is all floating in the same pond now so why not simply nationalise it and have done. At least we will all be paying the same... pretty much like we are now really with a few less people with their fingers in the pie.
It's not the pension deficit debt or national security that will stop a bid it's ofcom. They can pull the rug out from under any new owner any time they like. They are well practised at it as we all know to our cost.
Reckon the market sees BT as a bad investment by Drahi. True he has made billions but even he can get it wrong. Its difficult to see growth in the short term for BT and anyone looking to make a takeover is staring straight at ofcom run by the government that is full of bleating mps with shares in altnets.
The sp has another 5p to go b4 it reaches its launch price of 130 in 1984. Amazing when since then we have digital exchanges fibre broadband and mobile phones. All at easily affordable prices. Just a 20minute call in 1984 would have cost a fortune. Now it's basically free. Strange world we live in now. I think I'd wait until its 130 b4 buying in
Haha nice one woody. I'm in this till it hits 3.30 so I think I'm in for a long time. The law of averages says analysts and experts are bound to get something right now and again. Trouble is they expect us all to forget when they more often than not get it wrong.
