George Frangeskides, Chairman at ALBA, explains why the Pilbara Lithium option ‘was too good to miss’. Watch the video here.
I have this in an ISA and the Tax is around 30%. I assume this due to a French tax and a UK tax. A UK tax is only 0% on UK shares. Not sure why it is so high but that is what it was on the last Interim dividend.
You will now get ! Woodside share for every 5.53 old BHP shares. I would have thought the share price should have gone down about 15-20 %. So you doing OK if only down 10%.
I think it is to with your tax. If you have shares to sell then any profit or loss is part of your CGT of £12 k.
If you have dividends then it is taxed after you have accumulated £2 k. As the special dividend could be say 40 p then I imagine the CEO and CFO would have to pay a large tax bill. That is why I am voting against the EGM resolution and not taking part in the TO offer. At least AJBell send me a form online and make it easy to vote. Cannot say the same for Barclays.
They need 75% to have this capital reorganisation which they seem keen to happen. I do not understand why a company does not want to invest this cash. Also if we do not like what is happening we can sell when we choose at a time and price that suits us.

Hi Bigbas2all and fellow sufferers.
I have read the Tender offer and have the following concerns.
1) Previous Senegal payout of $257 M was followed buy consolidation to lift SP to previous level. What has happened is we now have fewer shares at a lower price. I mentioned on here that the consolidation benefits the company share scheme holders and the company advisers, not us.
2. Page 57 shows shows only $40 M for future UK offshore investment. Surely this is a safe area to invest? Why not lend the $500M to Serica or invest in renewables?
3. 5 NEDs do not own any shares. Maybe not very happy with the management!!
4. The Indian Gov only agreed payout after being taken to court. Then they agreed to original cash without a payout for loss of depreciation or interest. Now they have the cash they do not know what to do apart from giving it back to us.
5. Major shareholder has 13.7%. 3 others about 18%. Others under 3% not known. Maybe not a lot of confidence in management.
It needs 75% to get the resolution through. I will vote against this nonsense and let management come up with a plan to use this cash in Oil and Gas or renewables. If we wanted the cash we would sell some of the shares.
The main beneficiaries of this tender offer is the advisers.
I hope you attend the meeting and as the majority of shareholders appear to be small investors it would be good to hear what the management have to say.
PS They could put the company up for sale and let someone take it over.

I bought these shares on AJBell over six months ago. They were mentioned in Shares magazine(free to AJBell clients). Seem a steady safe investment.
You are correct. But those funds that look for dividends maybe sell so price falls further and then maybe funds seeing a bargain will come in. So you have the dividend and now hope the price keeps going up. Safe stock with a better interest than the banks so not risky like some other stocks which promise you a new life in the sun!!
Here is a link to the Powerpoint slides. The audio will be in shares magazine , I think

also on sourcebio website according to email I got

It will be on the website in a week. Stated at the end of the presentation. It was a good presentation although problems with the IT at the start. It is part of the same family(30% owned) as EKF, RENX and VRCI.
This is up 60% in two weeks. Something must be about to happen. Wish I had bought more last year. It has gone up 150% + and produced VRCI. Amazing. Still think FA. will equal this performance when regulations come into Scotland. Sorry to mention another share.
RNS on 6 th Jan with purchase at 19 p has been a booster. Spindok, I have followed you into EKF. I sold out previously too early. The spin offs (RENX and VRCI) have been great. Think this must be worth keeping for at least a year due to new regulations coming in Scotland for household alarms. Scoo.. don't be alarmed!! Enjoy it.
Hi levantic. The way I see is that if you have 1000 shares now and you end up with £320 as a dividend on 25 th Jan(if your broker pays it ASAP) and your 1000 old shares become about 800 new shares on the 8 th Jan if resolutions passed.
This is OK if your shares are in a SIPP or ISA as the dividend does not count to your tax limit but a problem if in a dealing account.
I do not see the point of changing the number of shares. Usually the price would decrease by 32 p. Easy.
They could change the incentive awards etc by lowering the targets by say 20%. I would be interested to know why they need to reduce the number of shares apart from giving someone more work and expense with no benefit to shareholders.
Good point Spindok. Also John C has bought in at 16p and 17p today. Think there is a further increase due in SP. I looked at Pi world broadcast from 2015/6 and the old FA. They must have made some very poor decisions to get the share price from 400 p to 15 p. Seemed to have too many different models in too many countries and a poor contract for software.
Hi Spindok
Appreciate your reply. I have a few dogs which I should have sold. However, a few goodies so not complaining.
Here is a link worth watching if you have not seen it.

Hi Spindok
Not sure what your evidence is for a cremation. But i would be interested to read it.
Mine is the RNS released today. Contract with Ealing Council. Hopefully more to follow.
Does anyone know what the allocation is for the restricted shares? AJ Bell only show them as PROV for 3 days. I am sure that they will get around to it ASAP. Interestingly people are trading these shares. The free A shares are not tradeable for 365 days. However this date can be brought forward by the company and transferred to ordinary shares sooner. Maybe with the trading going well they will transfer the A shares to ordinary shares tomorrow!!
Got in here recently.
Reason
1. 60% owned by funds
2. Bought 3 alarms and they had all the options of hardwired, 10 year battery(although maybe issues with battery life), linked using hardwire or wireless.
3. New regulations in Scotland mean new alarms being installed for many private households using smoke, heat and CO alarms.
Original date to be installed was Feb 21 but this was extended to Feb 22, obviously Scot Gov realised the resources and manpower was not available. If you wish to sell your house this could be a condition of sale. Also what about house insurance.
4. If these regulations are applied to all of UK then a big market for new alarms.
5. The old ionisation smoke alarms(using Am241 alpha radiation) are being replaced by Optical infra red sensors.
Other suppliers are available but Fireangel were very competitive(in Tool station)
Good luck all
After investing in Tanzania for many years I have to accept that there is too much corruption to allow a fair chance of making a return. Mostly they become worthless which can then be reclaimed against income with HMRC.
My evidence is
1) When you arrive you pay $50 in cash and get a paper receipt. There is no electronic receipt. Wonder why.
2) Going to National parks you pay $35 a day. No real evidence of improvements to roads, wildlife protection etc.
3) Travel on the weekend and you have the police in nice white uniforms checking for traffic faults so they can fine you. This is their salary and it is legal.
4) Someone I met who worked for World bank confirmed corruption is rife and it starts at the top. (that was 6 years ago but don't see any change noting the recent RNS).
5) Have a look on you tube Maji ya nyamuswa and it says it all. The rich don't care about their own population not having water or electricity. The tanzanian citizens are great people and suffer water and electricity shortages.
I was amused at the Embassy of Tanzania website asking UK to invest in Tanzania. When they sort out their corruption then it makes sense.
I am going to email the embassy to say they do not deserve UK investors and if they end up with Chinese investors then Good luck!!
Hope this is not too depressing but I feel it is true and something we must accepting is happening and mzungu's are getting scr... d. Maybe they regard it as pay back time. But pre 1972 their was water and electricity. Since then the developed world is asked to cover up for the government inabilities or they make no effort to deal with problems and the population are very foregiving. Not sure long it will last. Cheers
Hi slaanesch(What nationality is that. Gaelic?) If you go to fsa.gov.uk and then find short interest page there is a link to latest spreadsheet. Look at past holdings on page two. I did not see any shorts for achl but maybe it is listed on a HK market website. Interesting as Home retail, Ocado and Weir group are shorted by over 10 %. I use this info to place bets on FST account. Usually works but only put on small bets and sit tight and sell when get a profit.
This looks good for the future. However not a lot happened today only 1 Buy at 6.00 p. Hope more will appreciate this share. MID-STATES PLC (the "Company") Update on current business The Board is pleased to announce that in the first half of the financial year ended 30 June 2010 the Company has seen continued progress in its air disinfection business. The Board believes that the new business strategy adopted last year, its strengthened management team and the heightened awareness of viral threats (including swine 'flu), through national and international press coverage, have been significant factors in this progress. Orders received in the six months ended 31 December 2009 for the Company's AD air disinfection device totalled 679. These included larger orders from distributors in Spain, the Middle East and Norway together with others which were predominantly relatively low volume sales to potential new distributors as the Company seeks to establish sales channels in new markets, both in the UK and internationally. The Company is presently working with or in discussions with 25 distributors in different market sectors and territories around the world. In addition, there are now over 450 AD in use at UK hospitals, successfully and demonstrably playing a key role in the ongoing fight against viral and bacterial pathogens. Revenue for the first half is expected to be close to £0.2 million and at 31 December 2009 cash at bank was £0.94 million. The Company expects to publish its Interim Financial Statements for the six months ended 31 December 2009 towards the end of March and further information on trading will be provided at this time.
Agree with you the two buys are large and also 'O' but added would not require an RNS. However maybe if added to an existing position will trigger an rns. Also noticed an rns from invesco on 18/9/09 which holds 26% for other groups. Best to sit tight. I usually sell if it gives me 10 p but someone wants these so am holding.
