Poly remaining in Russia risks the whole business.

The UK is a stronger ally of the US than Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan will not be able to save Poly if the US comes sanctioning again.

At the last AGM on the 25th the board made it clear than the company was saved by that clarification that The US made in the sanctions making it clear that it was sanctioning the Russian bit not the whole PLC.

If not no one will risk dealing with them and that would have been curtains.

Let's not lose the patient while trying to save a leg.

Next week the sun rises on Polyville.

On Monday Polymetal becomes a Kazakhstan company. What does it mean? It means it is now a company in friendly jurisdiction to Russia. Therefore PolyR can be sold without permission from the special committee in Russia. It also means it will not be sold at a huge discount, so Polymetal can get a fair price for the asset. The mere redom strengthens Polymetals hand at any sale negotiations. (Personally I believe a sale has already been lined up)

At the AGM on the 25th of July the board calmly but firmly indicated that a sale is what they are thinking.

Anyone remember when Mr Nesis said a strengthen Ruble was one of the things keeping him up at night - when the ruble was around 60 to the dollar? Well the Ruble is currently 100 to 1 dollar. I bet he sleeps a lot better now. And costs in Russia are lower, hopefully that means more profit, less debt. Less debt makes divus more likely.

Well we can only hope but Polymetal has a record of meeting Production targets. Also I am sure they will want PolyR to meet targets as that makes it more attractive.

Now the UK MOD is blaming grass and wood for the slow (non existent) Ukrainian progress.

I mean if the rail operators in the UK can blame "the wrong kind of heat" during the summer foe train delays then why not blame grass for a failed counter offensive.

In its daily update, the ministry said: "Undergrowth regrowing across the battlefields of southern Ukraine is likely one factor contributing to the generally slow progress of combat in the area.

"The predominately arable land in the combat zone has now been left fallow for 18 months, with the return of weeds and shrubs accelerating under the warm, damp summer conditions.

"The extra cover helps camouflage Russian defensive positions and makes defensive minefields harder to clear.

Interviews with Ukrainian soldiers and a review of military surveillance footage from a recent attack indicate that many Ukrainian units are sustaining heavy losses.

A group with special operations training, deployed last month to storm Russian positions in a village on the western part of the front, took such heavy casualties in four days of assaults that they had to pull out without success.

After their armored vehicles were largely destroyed by artillery strikes on the first day, they revised their plan to approach the village on foot through a tree line that had been mined. The Ukrainians cleared a narrow path with demining explosives and the first soldiers reached the Russian positions and dropped down into a trench.

Drone footage of the event showed what happened next. Explosions suddenly detonated inside the trenches and other strikes hit soldiers on the edge of the tree line. The video footage has been verified by The New York Times.

“The trenches were mined,” said the assault commander, who uses the call sign Voskres, short for Resurrection. “Our guys started jumping in the trenches and blowing up,” he added. The Russian forces were watching, and they remotely detonated the mines, he said.

Those who managed to avoid the mines came under attack from multiple Russian kamikaze drones. “It seemed like they had a drone for each person,” he said. “The amount of equipment the Russians have, had we known, it was like mission impossible.”

Several weeks later, the village remains in Russian hands.
