#WINNING=Gloating....Nuff said.
Gloating
dwelling on one's own success or another's misfortune with smugness or malignant pleasure.
Since joining this BB i've learned a few things, Nothing that's going to make me a millionaire or even rich, Just how some deal in the market...so thanks all for that.
I looked into WB as I already new who he was, Didn't know of Berkshire-Hathaway and all the companies they own, But looking at the share price I almost spat my coffee out...wow! I thought that's a little pricey, I couldn't even afford a little corner piece of a share.
Anyhow with some of the latest postings it could be onward and upwards for RR shares...but i'm not holding my breath...wink.
GLA.
RR as a company is safe, Defence, Energy with Government contracts they hold and the golden share makes them a viable business, Civil Aero now that's a liitle different, RR in the past has spunked £1million to save £1000 yes £1000, I'll share a story with you, I was high up in the Union for Unite at RR, When Rover cars went bust, They were bought out and re-named Pheonix, In time they went to the wall as well, Directors took ££££££££s out of the company with Platinum pensions while those on the shop floor lost £££££££s....guess what.
Unite officials were invited to a meeting(myself included)Senior and Junior Managers were there aswell, On the stage were 12+ people we never new, The speaker introduced them as ex Pheonix Managers who were being Given senior Manager roles at RR on huge saleries at the time...This was/is how RR operated back then, Jobs for the boys/family, There was no need or positions for these people.
Until RR get their heads around how many they employ and what they do Civil Aero will hemorrhage cash, 11000 employed in Derby when I left in 2009, Circa 14000 before the cull.
"WARREN BUFFET thinking needed here GAZK, do you know who he is ?"
patanj I know I know...it's where RABBITS eat their carrots.
Gaz i've no problem with those who come on here and intimate "I told you so" as said money can make or break you, Shorting aint illegal...you take a chance, If it comes off then you pocket the loot, If not...then it's bread and dripping for tea.
Gloating is smugness...where if your opinion isn't liked by some they will come back with a comment that they think will double 6 you.
Life is for living, If you can make a few bob in legal trading then great, If you lose then we suck it up...going long for me 2-3 years and i'm confident i'll get a very good return...if not... then say la vie.
Good luck.
I'm also an ex RR employee Gaz, A great company to work for back in the day, I bailed in 2009 age 53, Took redundancy and retirement, Cashed in my sharesave and was well into profit, Took a wedge out of my account and invested in RR shares, If it drops alot more then so be it, I'm still comfortably off, Money is a mans strength and weakness, I've nowt to lose, RR will not fold, I'll still have those shares, Value may not be what I invested but something maybe to look forward too in a few years time aye.
People gloating on a BB shows no class.
Nice one Shamrock123, He reminds me of a Woman that's been on the lash, He never stops talking and thinks he's always right.
Supply chain my backside.
If you work in the supply chain are you in Derby...If so we could meet up sometime and discuss, I'm a 10 minute drive from Victory Road...Where I also worked
I doubt you'd say that to my face little boy, Good to see you can use Google, I see your mama and papas money was well spent on your education...Sleep tight my little angel.
Initially the Jumbo Jet was fitted with the RB211 which was superseded by the Trent 900, Casa may think he's wise with share selling/advice but has little knowledge when it comes to the actual engines itself.

_GazK, The airline industry is on it's ar**, RR engine sales are not what they were, Who's going to buy engines when they're planes are parked up, If planes are not flying RR aren't being paid, Those that are selling their shares are spooked by fear imo, They believe they'd sooner sell at a loss as they could be thinking RR will go bust...that wont happen, ValueAct sold their entire stock of RR shares last month, Someone purchased £40million worth of shares yesterday, Who's right and who's wrong, Dealing in shares is a risk but a risk worth taking imo.
The International Air Travel Association are calling for 8000 jumbo Jets to deliver a Covid Vaccine worldwide once a Vaccine can be formulated...Alot of those engines will have RR logos on
Thanks patanj....and good luck.
Good post below...but, If investers are spooked, Who spunked up £40million in shares at 4.27pm yesterday @ SP 216?
I guess i'm one of the fortunate ones, RR pay/paid great wages, I saved when others spent, Paid my mortgage off early, Invested in bonds in the early 00s and reaped the rewards, Foriegn money has/will always be here, Look at our football clubs, I'll sell my shares if and when they get to 500, Then i've doubled my loot, I'm in no rush, The money was only keeping Barclays in good shape.
FN2187...I did the same with "spare cash" banks giving nowt away ie interest rates, Bonds were/are at an all time low, So I decided to invest a fare chunk of my savings, I'm an ex RR employee almost 15 years service, I bought in at 255 and 219, How will it do, I've not got a clue, Mystic Meg would have trouble with this stock, What I do know is RR engines(even with the Trent 1000 trouble)are a great engine, Defence, Energy and Nuclear all OK it's the Civil part that's causing the stock to fluctuate, Less aircraft that fly, Less money RR earns.
Yep there's 1 or 2 doom mungers on here, Some posters are aware of the stock market some just wished they knew.
The jargon some use...I then look it up to try and understand, Only thing I do know is, If you make a profit on shares then alls well.
Good Luck.
"hoist with his own petard" from the famous play written by Will Shakespeare...Omlete, Lets hope he ends up with egg on his face.
I've used the filter tool to ignore a tool.
"Dont concern yourself it ain't worth the bother! I have managed without worrying about uncrossing trades for 55 years. It never stopped me losing money"
Nice one JohnLewis79, Little comments like this can make a dull day somewhat a little brighter, Take care fella.
You can never be too greedy smartinvestment, If you're chucking more £££s for more shares it's a gamble, You're rewarded if and when that gamble pays off, Remember it's risk and reward...time will tell if we did the right thing.
