The vaccines will be given to millions (and will not be very profitable for drug companies) the treatments such as but not exclusively Synairgen will only be given to hundreds or maybe a few thousand people. And they will be profitable. I think you have to respect the scientists. Most tend to be geeks and not greedy people but there are exceptions.

You may jest but a nurse friend tells me that in trials placebos often have an effect. I do not think anyone knows quite why. Take a look at Futura who have devised a cream for erectile disfunction where the placebo has become the treatment. Doctors have no idea how paracetomol works. Well I was pointing out there are many corona viruses some of which cause infection in humans. eg in 4 main sub groups, the alpha, beta , gamma and delta. Examples are 229E, NL63, OC43 amd HKU1 then there are the MERS series and SARS. Many of these have had vaccines being researched a long time. But also there was a base to build on for thos who followed a particular route
