RE: Q26 Jan 2019 13:00
I'll leave Q2 as that cant be derived from little we do know, I would hope EVRH will keep some stake.
Q1.
I am not in a position to compare games vs music and that's my point.
Even if Games are bread winner, music itself is a very big business and crowd puller.
Within Gaming there are different sub groups.
FB can never match SONY or NINTENDO etc. People who game at that level have a life style choice. They live to play games, itself is a huge market.
But that doesnt deter non-hardcore gamers to download small games on mobile phones ?
And that's where Quest has to hit.
As months turn to years and it all goes quick, AR/VR will take over mobile phones, computers will be redundant in a decade.
If Facebook can launch Quest which can offer itunes and google-play for AR/VR then they dont have to worry about hardcore gamers. After all Apple or Google dont offer hardcore games.
Assuming Quest better in quality and versatile in its services;
Quest allows people to audio, video call, play music, watch movies - that sounds like next iphone to me, for less than half the price.
Conclusion: VR is established and MVR has proved its value, as for monetisation and profitability - that's now FB's problem not ours, might take a while but FB will assure it for its own sake and we shall reap it.
