RE: Lloyds and the tarrif rebound25 Apr 2025 15:32
I was born and breed in Bradford and have lived and worked with many, I'll leave you with my first example of Islam, I found out very early in my working life, I worked for GEC Foundries and was shop steward for several years at foreman level, on stepping down a Pakistani guy who I had worked along side for many years took over.
I said if he needed guidance constructing our annual claim I'd be happy to help, you never went into negotiations alone I went with him and couldn't believe what he said with regards his number one condition, he wanted the percentage of Muslims being allowed to celebrate EID and have the day off increasing from 10% to 50% not an increase in money or better holiday entitlements for all GEC employees, etc.
After the meeting I was asked to stay behind and asked if I thought a foundry that was labour intensive with regards to labouring jobs could function with 50% of the Asian workforce on holiday, it made me aware that once these people realised if they got into any position of authority they could control things and have a massive influence with regards the future.
Bradford was the first City to have an Asian Lord Mayor and from there our local council has become dominated my Muslims, we've been badly run by past Labour councils for many years, and even though Starmer promised under Labour local council tax would not rise we have just received our bill for next year basically a 10% increase and when the council leader was asked why it was such a big increase she replied council tax's have been very low for years, but not commenting on the low wages associated with Bradford,
So to sum up I'm pretty well versed with regards mulitculturism in my City.
