I wonder if this was on our land ? I see it will be closed down…subject to Spanish authorities approval….a pre req perhaps in the bigger scheme of things ?
The Brazilian company Votorantim Cimentos, owner of the Cementos Cosmos factory in Toral de los Vados, through its subsidiary Corporación Noroeste, has reached an agreement to purchase Cementos Balboa in Spain, which has a modern comprehensive factory for the manufacture of cement with a production capacity of 1.6 million tons of cement located in the town of Alconera
(Badajoz).
This operation will expand Votorantim Cimentos' presence in Spain and "consolidate our growth and positioning strategy in the country," stated Marcelo Castelli, Global CEO of Votorantim Cimentos. Thus, the closing of the operation is subject to some conditions, such as approval by the regulatory authorities in Spain. Meanwhile, both companies will continue to operate independently until the completion of the acquisition.
With this purchase, Votorantim Cimentos reinforces its commitment to the Spanish market, in which it has been operating since 2012 with four comprehensive cement factories, two grinding mills, a mortar plant, and several
concrete and aggregate plants, with a presence in Andalusia, the Canary Islands, Castilla y León, Extremadura and Galicia.
