In other words, most really key policy areas remain national. The bizarre leave campaign banging on about the nhs, whilst the nhs was and remains a national responsibility. The Tories massively cut public funding through austerity, whilst the EU got the blame. In future, if we leave, the same problems will remain, just there will no longer be a convenient scapegoat

We retain legal competence (and are responsible for) employment, education and health policy, defence and security policy etc. as an EU member state. The single market in goods involves common sense politically and technology neutral legislation. Products are mainly regulated through technical standards. We the Brits are involved in the development of these standards. If the UK leaves and develops its own product legislation every manufacturer will still have to conform to EU legislation since the EU is one of the biggest export markets.if they don't export to the EU they are probably a tiny firm employing nobody. Ideology trumps reality.
