I can remember well their C.Card and banking side were netting more than £500k profit p.a once.
I suspect today we can expect yet another day of rises.
Neil,I like your thinking ,travel opening up again would be a huge catalyst to M&S.
A foreign M&A is becoming a realistic probability.
Well we came down in a straight line and now that the problem that put us down to 84p has as good as gone away these no reason why we can't go back up in a straight line .
It will just keep moving up IMO for the simple reason we are still heavily undervalued now that C-19 is as good as over and a Brexit deal seems the more likely option.
IMO / experience with other shares , strong resistance points on the way down have no relationship when sentiment changes on the way up.
IMO the pandemic is as good as over bar the shouting and if the AZN (UK holds 100 million doses already in the bank) phase 3 result come in as expected , this could be all over in less then a year from when it started.
Been here before during the Gulf war and the trick that time was to simply sit on your hands and watch it rise.
My target is 4 years .
Sentiment has changed IMO and the SP is simply catching up.
Although the Oxford vaccine uses a different technology from the Moderna jab, the two vaccines both rely on stimulating cells to produce a specific protein, which in turn triggers an immune response – meaning Moderna’s results bode well for Oxford.
A source at the Department of Health and Social Care said the results from the Oxford vaccine trials were “imminent” and that it could be one of the first to be rolled out.
Pollard told the Guardian that the Oxford/AstraZeneca team expect to have findings from their phase 3 clinical trial within a matter of weeks.
Should that be the case, and the team also release their full safety data, some have suggested the vaccine could gain regulatory approval about the same time or before the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine.

Highest the SP has been since 11th March.
Marks & Spencer said it "undertook an immediate unannounced audit" in the wake of the claims, the company said it "identified overtime working practices that are not acceptable", but disputed worker accounts about access to toilet breaks and water.
The company also said it had a "robust" plan in place and would be "undertaking regular unannounced audits to ensure its implementation".
Not just any old response ,that an MKS response.
I also think MKS becoming the first grocery to sell 100% recyclable plastic next year will help boast food hall l sell even more .
Its a marketers dream!
Point taken , but the goal posts have moved dramatically post pandemic and it not me promoting this idea , it the management .
PS the point i was trying to make was imagine if MKS did give TSCO ,SBRY etc a run for their money over the next few years and finished taking 15 -20 % o the UK's grocery market ?
That would surely equate to at least a £10 B valuation.
Contractually neither 50% can be sold.
The CEO has said taking on the mainstream was the objective of the Ocado deal "same quality ,better price."
The DOW is now 500 points higher than it was before the pandemic started, FTSE 20 % below and the other major European index's 5% below.
Clearly positive Brexit and AZN news would dramatically close that gap.
MKS was my best buy when everything was at rock bottom if they go on to achieve everything they are aiming for ie competing head on with TSCO this will be heading toward becoming a £10 B plus company again , £3.5 B short term.
Shorters must be a worried ATM now that sentiment has changed overnight .
Its all about sentiment !
No one saw yesterday's vaccination coming ,everyone was expecting that sort of new early next year,
MKS fair value taking the vaccination new into account is more like £1.60.
Could easily support a 3p div in the NY if profits and strong pipeline cont.
