i can't imagine how they expect to be able to "catch up" via onshoring at all if their power grid is in such **** shape - that's a genuine national security issue imo.
i'm intrigued as to what they, obviously, have planned - the amounts of power generation, storage and distribution required for them to realise onshoring is vast, even by american standards when you take into account ai, robotics, evs etc.
little wonder trump nuked the copper price some months back but it's going to come storming back with unprecedented lack of supply from next year - the silver battery tech could be v interesting too.
in short though, that timeline of securing their own rare earths processing etc in 1-2 years is obviously a joke and mkango should have multiple recycling plants on the go by then.
