with a newly-found price advantage, the logical thing is to couple it with a service advantage. next day delivery from the uk to a us location? conceivable but highly unlikely. or maybe you're advocating smuggling, tradey. if boohoo had planned the us dc with a methodical, long-term perspective (instead of one moment just saying "yeah, let's open a dc" and the next just saying "yeah, let's shut that dc"), they could have found themselves able to capitalise on the tariff-based price advantage by also having an in-country distribution facility capable of getting products to customers on at least a next-day basis, or even a same-day basis in certain localities. service as well as cost advantage. that's the point.

Sorry, but a single utterance of "exciting fashion-led marketplace" won't quite cut it.

I'm puzzled. I thought that massive inventory write-downs already took place in 2022 and 2023 and the company had adopted a much leaner model? If so, then the business has simply continued to accumulate redundant stock since then with no change in approach, or they were maybe telling porkies about how comprehensive those previous exercises were.

Dipping into the 25s again. Not quite understanding how a Debenhams profit of £3-5M (give or take) is considered positive when the group has lost £156M in the previous financial year and remains on course to lose another £200M in the next results.

So even though there's a GM in the week ahead, it looks like there'll be no capital markets day in Q1, as was promised. There will (still) be no credible plan published, against which shareholders may base their future investment decisions. But it seems that the board have always got time for selling assets at a loss, awarding themselves share bonuses for little achievement, paying multi-million pound salaries to "consultants" (ahem), and partying like it's 1999. Twelve months 'til crunch time.

I just hope their hangovers have subsided after all these parties they've been throwing.

Is there a Credible Plan yet? Because all I've heard is a load of vague waffle about a fashion-led marketplace. Not sure how transforming into the Gumtree of fashion is going to help when sales are going down and down and down.

While there may well be a bid at 40p, I can't possibly see it being accepted. By anyone. Camelot's average is perhaps in the 50-60p range, Schroder's in the 60-70p range, and the family members ranging up to the 200s. An acceptance of such a bid would be utterly moronic. That being said, the management of the whole outfit has been exactly that over the last four years, so don't rule anything out. I wonder how tradey would vote on a 40p bid, given his 380p average?
