TBF, SAE have had a number of different hyrdo ventures over the years, now all sold off. It was really the USK venture that has been the turning point of the company. Whilst I'm not enthralled with the concept, it's not the worst solution and has comparities with DRAX, who bring wood chip etc from across the world to burn.
Had USK been successful, it would have financed the building of MyGen, that the decision was made during the COP talks as well as negative press around New UK coal mines, really didn't help our application, or the public/political/media mindset (even if they were not directly related).
Still invested, yes at a loss, can't see any quick recovery, there's definitely a viable ongoing business, it's just whether it gets the financing required for MyGen and BESS, or it gets sold in bits/ bought out.
