RE: Now shorting £10k31 May 2019 17:23
Id suggest it's not that they are unwilling to lend what they can, I'd suggest those willing don't have anything left to lend. Short interest is very high (and most of those shorts are loss making as they were taken out recently), and there's only so many shares available to short. You might be able to pick some up usually in a falling market as shorts take profits and new shorts pick them up. However in a rising market, and more importantly a positively developing market those shorts are not in profit so those shares are unavailable for other shorts to pick up. So you have a very high short position a rising market, and underwater short positions. That has all the makings of a big short squeeze coming. Any news and those underwater shorts will no longer be able to hold, so on top of investors buying developments shorts will be competing to buy them back. Just my thoughts, but looking forward to the fireworks.
